Okay, I'm of the belief that this is a MUST win game and a vary winnable game. ISU is without their stud returner who killed us last year. It's an away game and a win would boost confidence. ISU is well coached and they have some nice players, but I believe we will win this game. They beat Western State and got pounded by Washington State the first game of the season.

As for the conference as a whole, I believe it's still wide open. Montana State probably looks like the best team. Eastern Washington lost to South Dakota and Sac State lost too. Let's not get too far behind. At this point I was hoping to be 1-1 but we can't afford to be 0-3 after next weekend.

BEAR DOWN!!!

Yeah I agree we have to go up there with some urgency and win this game, anything less and the ship will be taking on water big time.

This is a must win for ISU. We have to win this one to hopefully have a chance at UNA. The good thing is that ISU has a offence that is performing. ISU leads the FCS in passing and that includes playing a PAC 12 team. Rodrick Rumble has the most receiving yards in the FCS. ISU had 8000 fans in the dome and from what I have heard it was loud. I hope for a good game and have fun on the new turf.

ISU's new coach is a proven winner in the Big Sky and I don't see them being the cellar dwellers anymore. We will see which team wants it worse--kind of like a bizarro world playoff game.

Yeah I think this is a must win for UNC. If they come out and play like they did during the second half of the CSU game, I feel they have a very good chance of winning this ball game. Expect another close game.

Which team will show up at ISU? I wonder if we will see the team that got embarrassed by NAIA Lindenwood or the team that out played CSU in the second half? ISU will give us their best shot and will be a tough team to beat at their house. Our team has looked really bad at times and we still don't have an answer at QB. The defense was nonexistent for the Linderwood game as well as the first half of the CSU game and our offense had trouble getting anything going in both games. I'm hoping we got things worked out now and we will start to see some good football from the Bears.

I looked at the stats from the ISU vs Western State game. It shows that ISU passed 2.5 times more than they ran the ball. They had a little over 400 yards passing and about 100 yards rushing. I would imagine they'll have a similar game plan against UNC. IMO, it will be important that UNC's d-line gets a lot of pressure on their QB. If UNC can make plays on defense and take them out of the passing game it will make them run the ball more than it appears that they like to. UNC's defense must force 3 and outs and our linebackers need to pick up backs out of the backfield and the TE and slot receiver. They need to do a better job of reading their keys and staying with their assignments. A lot of this falls on the defensive coordinator who has not been impressive in the first two games. He needs to make adjustments during the first half and not wait until halftime to adjust.

I think another key for UNC, will be getting the running game going. I saw an article on Western State's website, and it said that WSC out rushed Idaho St., I bet Quinten is a lot better than what WSC has. I HOPE this will be a break out game for UNC, and we start to see some more of what we saw in the second half of the CSU game.

I think the game will be close, and come down to what ever team shoots themselves in the foot fewer times late in the game.

No more than 2 or three points difference. We are at the starting gate to see who will not be the ultimate cellar dweller this year, ready, set,...

FWIW, the Tribune on Wednesday, 14 September says that, for the ISU game this Saturday, Labato is back as starting QB _and_ so is Burnley.

Go Bears!

I gotta admit I'm disappointed in the defensive line and LB's on our team. The line is getting NO pressure on the QB's and this was supposed to be the strength of the team. I don't like the soft defense Shay is calling, with lots of zone coverage and I want to see more LB blitzes, especially with Bumpas. LB's have been a disappointment as well with not stopping the run. Lots of things to fix before we play a much improved Bengal team.

PS- They have the coach I wish we would have hired. Hinrichs, instead took 5 years to hire someone else. Collins isn't much of an upgrade from Downing thus far.

The Bengals will be improved but I don't how much though. I've taken a look at their stats from the first two games, and one thing that sticks out, is they are a predominantly passing team. They don't have much of a running game, WSC out rushed them. Also their defense looks to be a little shakey, Angelo St (who played WSC the week before the Bengals) held WSC to fewer total yards then Idaho State. Washington St gashed them for over 200 yards rushing as well. We don't know much about Idaho St, because they got smashed by a FCS team, and beat a very lousy D2 team. That's why I feel its anybody's ball game at this point.

I agree the D has been very disappointing so far, and they are going to have to step it up this game. Especially the DBs, I hope they can ride that confidence from the second half of the CSU game.

It's going to be nice having Burnley back. He and Quick will be a nice combo and the play book can open up a bit. Gotta get that running game going. We haven't lost to ISU in 4 years I believe. This is a MUST win.

We should see this week if UNC is who we thought they were. Either this season is a 1 win win season or 0 wins this year. This will be a tough year for the Bearcats in sports basketball as well so don't hold your breath. If Moore plays do not be arrogant Collins stay away from kickin him the ball. I think we match up well against Idaho State . This game will be tight and I'm predicting the bearcats to win by a field goal by Eden. Where was that guy last year when we were tanking kicks in the last min of games to actually win them. If we lose like expected prepare for this to be a long and very negative year from fans alumni, boosters whoever expect 20 students in the fan section on senior day if we lose this game.

Collins and his coaching staff are mediocre at best. No proven track record of winning or building a program. The first big opportunity for them and Collins and Boyer spend a ridiculous amount of time picking a quarterback. They had all spring and all summer to evaluate the 3 qbs. That shows me a lack of confidence in themselves about making tough decisions. If the other coaches on the staff are like this, it shows why the team looks to be about 2-3 weeks behind the other teams in terms of football preparation.

Who are the Bearcats?

Collins is a good hire, but he didn't put a good staff together. I sound like a broken record, but Peterson and Deti should have been retained. Shay has a very soft defense and I didn't think it could get softer than Deti's but it's horrible. Armour has no clue and needs to go back to equipment manager.

They picked a quarterback, Seth Lobato, who got hurt a quarter and a half into the season. I'll admit I was a little harsh on him after the Lindenwood game, and I'm interested to see what he does against ISU this week.

Last year, UNC's defense gave up an average of 31 points a game. The offense averaged 25 points a game, which is only a touchdown better than the year before.
