I heard the announcers saying something about Best not losing the locker room. I agree with that. Say what you want about his records the past 3 years, these guys haven't quit at all and still seem to be playing hard for themselves and the program. We've been close in almost every loss this year. It wasn't out of the realm of possibility for this to be a 7-4 or 8-3 team had we won those two games against Drake and SELA and one or two more conference games.
Sure, lets give best another few losing seasons of almost wins.

He sure would benefit from defensive coaches who build a strong team on that side of the ball. Every year, the D is horrible and the offense is efficient. 2022 was the only Best year where the offense struggled.

If we beat NAU, and we certainly might, I suspect he gets re-upped on a short contract. People who donate seem to like him and I doubt there’s much motivation to force him out.

If I’m the AD, I’m asking around to see what’s available. I guess a lot will come down to whether Eastern can get someone better. I’d want to know that before making a hard decision.

What did i just watch???

Maybe an extension on his current contract.

We so far he hasn't been able to hire any good defensive coaches. He isn't going to attract any defensive coaching talent with a 1 or 2 year extension. If you were a defensive coach and had 1 off season to completely turn around one of the worst defenses in the FCS or you and the rest of the coaches will be fired, you'd be like screw that. That is probably why he had to promote Eric Sanders from within.

You can like Best and think he is a great guy who has done a ton for Eastern and athletics and still think he may not be cut out to be head coach. It's not personal its business. And when someone has ran the business into the ground for 3 years it is time to move on.

Also, the tailgate isn't as full as it used to be neither is the stadium. I remember when we were a playoff team, we'd sell out practically every game, now the stands are sparse. They're discounting tickets. People are selling their season tickets and tailgate spots in facebook groups.

Also, its not guaranteed the offense will keep rolling after we lose the best receiver in the FCS, most of the offensive line.

I've said this all to you before and you just keep on ignoring it. I'm mostly writing this comment for others.
