Without blame, one could say this pre-season was a total BUST! Deflated excitement, evaporated interest and frustrating losses/dull wins!! Earnestly hoping that the BSC regular season renews interest & is a total BOOM! EWU should prove to be a good intro. test (fortunately in Ogden). Looking just ahead to the 2nd week on the road at contenders UNC & UND, results could speak volumes. Northern Colorado employed an effective 3/4 court press & solid play for a home win over North Dakota Sunday according to Jon (BigSkyBasketball). Like it or not, the BSC action can be our only excitement now! GO WILDCATS!!

Most definitely. Everyone I know who's even remotely interested in WSU is pretty much numb with both bball and football. It's most disappointing that Weber rarely seems to be able to build off momentum. There was SO much energy and excitement about the 'cats at the end of last season and recruiting has been (at least seems to have been) phenomenal the past several seasons. I've pretty much excepted the poor offering for OOC home games but this year's schedule certainly was a complete "bust." Win or lose, they really need to generate some excitement, losses are easier to take if there is exciting, competitive play-- something that has been missing much of the first half of the season. They probably just haven't wanted to "show" anything before conference play. :roll:

I really wish I could figure out why we have been so bad this year? I can think of a few things, but not sure exactly what the problem is. We can blame the poor schedule, youth, injuries, etc. This has been the most frustrating year for me since the 2006 season. I really thought we were going to be not just good, but very good. I'm usually a glass is half full kind of guy, but its just been hard to get excited this year after the OOC games. We really struggled last Saturday against an average NAIA team. The worst was the UVU game. :wall: That was so painful to watch. Ok OK, I'm going to stop being a Debbie Downer. Maybe we turn it around in conference. I believe we are still the most talented team in the conference. We just need to put it together. The good thing is that pretty much everyone in the Big Sky is struggling. I do say that UNC is looking to be the favorite now. I watched them a little yesterday and they just owned UND. Derrik Barden is my pick for MVP right now. I wish we had him. I'm looking forward to the EWU game, because I think that will give us a good idea where we stand. I have watched EWU a couple times this year and they are solid. If we beat the crap out of them that would make me feel a lot better. ha ha.

I agree with you Wazzu. We have the talent. However, we have not learned how to close out a close game yet. The USU and UVU games exposed that little fact about our team. I am hopeful that this team will get it together. If not, we will be in the same boat next year, with freshmen contributing in a major way.

When I found out that we would be starting a freshman at point guard, I knew that to be good and bad at the same time. Good, that we have a freshman with that kind of game and bad that we will be lead by a freshman who has not settled into a leadership role just yet. This team is still waiting to gel. If we do get it together by the end of the season, we could make a run at the NCAA tournament. We have the talent and I am hopeful.

We will be getting James back this week. That will be a plus on the boards and on the defensive end. Both are areas of concern for us. Plus, in all of the practices I have attended, he is a leader on this team and will be a settling influence when he is in the game.

Now that there will be more games more often this team might actually get a chance to meld together and become a real TEAM. Eastern at home is a great first test, will not be an easy game.

This game is all about rhythm and consistency. Our schedule hasn't allowed us to have either of those things yet. What we have had to do is struggle through a lot of issues, at home and on the road. 4 of our losses have been to teams that are far better than anything we will face in the BSC. There are not any tougher road venues than what we have already experienced. We may be better prepared for this than everyone is thinking. Once we get it together, watch out. :thumb: :thumb:

Just to remind some UNCO beat the tar out of UND. North Dakota doesn't have any bigs and Barden showed why he is the best PF in the league. He owned the Former Sioux. I believe he finished 18 and 14. Hmmm Joel, take a good look at those numbers he has a fourth of your talent and is 6-6. It is all about heart! I'm getting sick of not seeing Fuller. I don't care that he isn't as talented. He at least works his ass off and plays hard. Also he isn't lost, which doesn't say a whole lot for the guys who have been here two years.
