on Fox Sports AZ (national broadcast according to NAU's website) Thursday night @ 6 pm. Only kicker is the game is in direct competition with the FBS's arbitrary version of a national championship game. I suspect ratings won't be all that great. Who cares though. I can't even pretend to give a squat about either U Texas or U Alabama in the least bit. I'll be watching the Jacks.

NAU started conference play with the toughest roadtrip in conference and the a game with the best Big Sky team. Nowhere to go now but up. The Idaho State team is maddeningly inconsistent, according to posters over at the Bengal's Den site (link below), but have played a brutal schedule. I think the Bengals are more talented then their record shows. Won't be an easy game.

Go Jacks!

NAU wins!

Men’s Basketball Gets First Big Sky Win over Idaho State

Junior Cameron Jones scored a game-high 26 points to lead Northern Arizona to a 68-56 victory over Idaho State Thursday at the Walkup Skydome.

NAU won its first Big Sky Conference game to improve to 1-3 in league play and 7-8 overall, while Idaho State dropped to 4-12, 1-3.

“We made an emphasis today that we were going to defend our home court,” said Jones.

Jones scored 13 of his 26 points in the first half as the Lumberjacks built a 20-point lead at halftime. NAU shot 48 percent in the opening half and hit five three pointers. The Bengals were held to 30.8 percent from the field.

“We got off to a good start,” said Jones. “Our defense, rebounding and our intensity helped us get the early advantage in the game.”

It was the 11th 20-plus point game of Jones career and fifth of the season. He has averaged 23.5 points over the last four games, scoring 20 or more in three of the four contests.

Good win vs. the Bengals.

Lots of things that had been going wrong/sketchy went right last night. Way to go, Jacks.

Due to no more radio coverage in the desert and not being near a computer tomorrow night, it looks like I'll miss the Weber State game. Hoping no 0-2 vs. Weber State this season.

I saw the game last night on TV and was quite surprised by the level of play from Jones. He really did as he pleased with the Bengals. Also it was nice to see Eric Platt back in action. We missed him tremendously when he was hurt.

I was in Pocatello on Dec. 31 when the Bengals played the Montana Grizz and I cheered my ass for for the Bengals to beat Montana. Idaho St. has a better team than what they showed in Flagstaff, so for NAU to get a win against ISU is a huge plus. If we keep playing like we played last night, we will not stay at the bottom of the conf. for long.

On another note, what the heck did Northern Colorado take in the off season? They went from last to first overnight!!! Did they pull a Manny Pacquiao and get on the juice??? They are looking crazy good so far.
