He's put Weber pofile pics back up on Twitter and added "Weber St QB". Guessing he hasn't received a lot of interest out there (no surprise), so maybe he's having second thoughts. But I get the feeling that he burned his bridges here so I'd be surprised if Hill lets him back on the team if he wants to return.
I'm with you on this one. I'm not sure what the circumstances would have to be for Coach Hill to take him back, or how the rest of the team might react to it. I'd probably tell him to wait until June to see if we want to take him or someone else off the transfer portal. There is certainly not a rush on any of it. Even if he comes back, there would be no guarantee of his being the starter or being on the two deep lists. :coffee:

Without a transfer coming in, Jake should be the starter, he might not have handled the transfer portal better than Smith but... I haven't seen anything that would make me comfortable with Jenks or any of the other backups from last year leading the team. But in Hill I trust.

Yes. Hill will make the right choices. Transfers can come in any time between now and summer. There truly is no rush on any of it. There are still a good number of quality QBs and RBs in the transfer portal. We also have some very talented underclassmen QBs already in the program. One of them could step up this spring or summer. As long as we make the needed improvements along the O line, I think our offense will be just fine. I feel that the QB spot will be wide open, with or without Jake.

“I just think I wanted to get back to the FBS level,” said Constantine. “That was always my dream.”

Towson is a good program, but not FBS. He never was an FBS level QB.

Is it too late to add Towson to our schedule? :stir:

Would love to see how Constantine would handle Weber's defense. Maybe if they get lucky and make the playoffs as the CAA 4th place team we could see them next year.

Constantine im sure is a great kid. But he is one of those guys who looks great on paper, team captain, 2 time big sky champion and deep playoff runs. But he was never that impressive to me as a qb. Maybe I am missing something but without that steller D and a good running attack, Jake would have been hung out to dry. His passing accuracy and arm strength left something to be desired and the abiltiy to read a defense was not there.
Like I said im sure he is a great kid but I am also not sad to see someone else under center. With a new OC this year and that D, we are in for something! (if we play ball)

Totally agree with all your points. I think it’s a very strange move to walk away from a great situation for a senior playing year to go to a new team. We will see how it plays out but 10 out of 11 in Big Sky in passing efficiency says a lot, and I don’t think the o line was that bad to finish that low. A great defense helped Constantine look better than he was in my opinion.

I am excited to see a new QB and scheme.

Looks like Matt Hammer is also following Jason Shelley.

Shelley transferring to Utah St
Probably has been the plan for quite some time, just waiting for being cleared to play right away. He should have a good chance of playing there. USU should have a chance of playing in the Idaho Potato Bowl or the Standard Plumbing Toilet Bowl, So he will get great national exposure.

It certainly does not look good for Jake. Still, I hope it all works out for him. The real tragedy of the transfer portal is the number of athletes who don't find a home at all. That goes for all sports.

When the first transfer exemption is passed next January, there will be a huge influx into the portal. It may pay off for teams to hold 3 or 4 grants open until spring. With everything that has impacted athletics this year, it will become even more interesting January through June. :coffee:
