Jake Heaps to UNC?

According to The Desert News, we are in contention (with other schools) to get the former Kansas QB's services. I say bad idea. The guys is one of the most overrated prospects of recent time, and he lost his starting spot to a Soph.

Collins mentioned after the Spring game that we need more depth at the position and they're in the works in getting more competition. I just hope it's not Heaps.

I just read that Heaps only has 1 year left and does not want to sit on the bench no matter where he goes. I don't see him coming in here and thinking he is all that and a box of rocks and thinking he is going to be the starter without competing for it.

I agree. I don't see any benefit of bringing in a one and done, especially a kid who has lost his job at BYU and then at Kansas. Unless he is going to pick up the offense in a few weeks and be a major upgrade over Rubes it shouldn't even be considered. We need depth but Heap isn't the solution.

With his LDS background I would bet on SUU as his landing spot anyway.

Not to mention it would take away Rubes progression. The best way for him to get better is with real live game action. I hope they do add depth, and I hope Walters gains eligibility. My next suggestion if that fails is to go get a JC kid with several years experience. He will be ready to compete with Knipp when time comes. :twocents:
