This is just one of several recent articles praising the job Coach Hill is doing at Weber. Sure hope we can hang onto him for a long time, although I'm sure other offers will be coming. If you hadn't heard, there's an opening at Oregon St and former Weber assistant Cory Hall is the interim HC now. Man, that OSU coaching staff is littered with former Weber assistants. Sucks for them. But I don't think a P5 school would take a serious look at Hill, not yet anyway. We might have to worry about USU or BYU first.

I've heard rumors that USU is already putting out feelers. BYU could be at least 2 years out.

USU fans already starting a list of potential head coaches if Wells takes Texas Tech job. Of course Hill is on that list.

Story on Weber State's third straight playoff appearance touches on the elevated expectations Jay Hill has established within the program.

Weber State eager for next playoff run to commence

Jay, in all likelihood, if offered a job at USU will take it. Honestly, he has earned the opportunity. The Aggies can offer Hill a lot more than what Weber can. It is weird, a decade ago, Weber was around 10 million behind USU budget wise. Now, we are 30-35 million behind. To me that says a lot about either out priorities or would it be apathy, at Weber State. There are serious problems that aren't being addressed and continue to happen. Any major organization would have changed course or else, well, that organization would be bankrupt. It is funny the the university teaches one thing, but then turns around and does something different. Athletics really needs a shake up. Marketing and fan development would be the first areas of concern that should be resolved.

Heard that Jody Sears is available...

Now in all seriousness. We knew this day would come. Jay is a super awesome coach. I am very grateful for the work he has done here in Ogden and the success he has had. He is a young coach with a bright future. Who wouldn't want to see him progress professionally? Personally, I was hoping he would sit tight until Whittingham retired, but he probably needs some experience at an FBS school before a PAC-12 program would show interest in hiring him. Yes, it would be amazing if he was still our coach next Fall; maybe Jerry can conjure something up -if I was Jerry I would give Jay his own marketing/promotions guy and cut the cupcake man out-. I'm crossing my fingers that Coach Hill is still the Wildcats HC next Fall.

Really it all hinges on USU and Matt Wells. Sitake is safe for another season at BYU and I really don't see Hill taking that dumpster fire position in Provo. Heard that Jay is on the short list to replace Wells if he elects to leave (hypothesizing here: Wells does have most everything back next year and if he stayed could potentially get an even bigger payday). Other candidates possible: Gary Anderson (former USU HC), David Yost (USU OC), Neal Brown Troy HC, Morgan Scalley (DC at Utah), or Ed Lamb (former SUU HC, better than where he is now).

Final thought, if Jay were to leave who would be a possible replacement? Fesi Sitake, Justin Ena, Brent Meyers, Colton Swan (I think Swan is ready)?

Wells is in negotiations with TT to become their next head coach.

Why would USU want to hire a coach who can't even win his own conference's coach of the year award? But seriously, piss off USU.

Timing might be very important here. I really don't see Jay as being the kind of guy who would accept another job and leave (and take part of his staff) in the middle of a playoff run. He's worked too hard for these playoffs and no way is he leaving his players like that. And, I'm not sure USU will want to wait around for what is hopefully another 3-5 weeks, especially with Wells and his two coordinators already gone. All the more reason to show up and support this team during the playoffs. Let's show Jay all the support we can, and help keep this playoff run going as long as we can.

I hope you are right but, I am still really nervous about this. We have all known that Jay would move on but, I have been hoping for another year or two. I guess we can also hope that the Aggie faithful get their way and they bring back Gary Anderson, there seems to be a lot of fans that would love that. It does seem like every article mentions Hill as an option so we will have to wait and see now.

I agree 100%. No way Coach Hill would leave right now. He has worked too damn hard to abandon this team for a fist of money. If USU really wants Jay they will have to wait until Weber's season is over. Winning might be the best way to keep Coach Hill for another year. Someone needs to whisper that to the players. Could help them get a bit more motivated for the game tomorrow (not that they need anymore motivation. Every major fan forum, see Eastern, is saying Weber is over-rated and shouldn't be the 2 seed. Gotta proves we belong. Starts tomorrow).

Eastern can piss off too. Maybe they should beat the #2 seed before running their mouths. They've got their chance just like everyone else in it, so they can shut up and prove they're not overrated. The beauty of the FCS-- the playoffs determine a true champion.

Would like to see EWU win in 2nd Round for the conference, but I'm definitely rooting for Davis if they meet up in the next round. Eagles fans are almost as bad as Griz fans. Lots of arrogance and lack of respect. And their team loves to run up the score, including against Davis this season. Gives Davis added motivation. Would love to see a Weber/Davis matchup in Ogden.

Hartwell said the university has hired an outside search firm to help fill the coaching vacancy. It is the same firm the school used when it found its basketball coach, Craig Smith. He hopes to have a new head coach in place sometime within the next 10 days to two weeks at the latest, if not before.

That's good for us.

Hartwell did not express preference in a coach with ties to Utah, or someone with previous head coaching or coordination experience to replace Wells. But he did say he would like an individual who understands the Utah’s culture, citing the state’s large pool of Polynesian athletes and players who leave and return from missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“That will continue to be a vital cog in the success of Utah State football,” Hartwell said.

That's not good for us.

Utah State is definitely eyeing Jay for their head coaching vacancy. Should be interesting to see what transpires over the next few days out of Logan. Who knows where Jay is on Hartwell's short list. He could be the top candidate or the 5th option. All I care about is winning tomorrow and keeping this season going.

If we win a national championship this year, then Hill can go wherever he desires. Util then, its funny how USU looks down on us, but all of a sudden their fans show great interest in our past seasons, style, coaches, etc. I am also not sold that Hill would strongly consider the move. Logistically, he would be talking over a successful program, and right out of the gates the bar is high. When he came here, he could set the tone and set his culture here. It would take years to do that up there (he would have to implement things of Wells). Sara's doctors are all here, and that could be a difference maker. Can someone get the students to chant quite frequently tomorrow, "We love coach Hill!!"

I think the DC coordinator job at Utah was/is more appealing than the HC at USU. They are delusional up there, leave our coach alone.

Diito. Would be sweet to see Davis get some revenge, especially in the inferno. Davis is a great team too and it would be fun to find out who is better between them and Weber in, by far, the biggest game in the history of both schools.
