I am very dissapointed in the way the football team has performed over the past two seasons. I was a supporter of the Glanville hire two years ago but am starting to realize it was a mistake. It is not that I expect him to be winning the conference already but I need to see improvement. Hopefully he can recruit major talent but to be honest, so far I do not think he is bringing in better players than before he arrived here. They are not recruiting as much in Oregon although he likes to make it seem like he is when he talks to the media. The team did not improve and I don't see next season ending up much differently. The agonizing thing is that he is supposed to be the "man in Black" and bring that attitude to his defenses. His defense has been man handled and undisciplined over the past two years. He took over a program that was not far from winning the conference year in and year out. I don't see why people are being so patient. PS. -I don't like the players on the sideline who are injured dressed in whatever clothes they want & acting like a bunch of thugs. Walsh had a code for the players to abide by and the discipline is not there any longer w/ the current coaches. These are 18-19 year old kids, it's is not the pros. It is up to the coaches to get them to be disciplined, especially the kind of kids glanville seems like he is bringing in.

"a bunch of thugs"-- really? I'm all for more discipline, but the lack thereof comes from hiring a guy who is used to dealing with professionals. It's a tight line to walk, though. If anyone is too disciplined with the modern athlete, they go running to their parents-- just look at Bob Knight at IU or TTU.

As to the recruiting, you might want to look a bit closer, and see who else is offering the athletes before PSU gets them. One of the current freshman had an offer from a winning team in the SEC. (ole miss)

At a school with a small budget like PSU, you can't afford to make mistakes, because guys serve out their contracts. No upset fans (and there are a lot of them) will change that. If Glanville doesn't improve drastically during the rest of his deal, you can be sure he won't be coming back. Don't worry.

I think it's too early to comment on if JG's recruits are 'better' than our recruits that were brought in prior to him arriving. We did see a lot of true freshmen hit the field this season, but we didn't see them all.

The patience of Viking supporters has run out. 2009 must yield positive results or the JG legacy at Portland State will be that of a failed one. By 'positive results' I mean no less than a 6-5 record.

Too soon to pass judgment. Completely different schemes on both sides of the football. Having to recruit players of a different skill level to play those schemes. The next two years will tell the tale. If Glanville can guide two NFL teams to the playoffs, he can win at PSU.

I agree.

The thing I'm really disappointed in is the low attendance this season. I would gladly accept 20 losing seasons if games were fun and the park sold out. Kinda like Notre Dame. ;) But unfortunately, we do not have quite the same legacy so the Vikings have to fight for every sold ticket. Die-hard fans must be earned.
