Johnson & Johnson closed for business

That sucks. A big one. I really wanted to see him set the records in INTs and return yards. It's been an honor watching him and his brother play. The injury bug this year is just unreal. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

FrontFive4Life,
It is very hard to see both of those Johnson Twins gone from the team. Taking nothing away from the rest of our team. Those Twins are two of the hardest workers that I have seen on a Football Field.. They will be greatly missed. Matt & Zach, thanks for being there and helping the team and University to become "National Champions". :thumb: :thumb:

If you noticed on Saturday when Matt went out of the game, #20 Billy Lechtenburg (sp), filled in and he was giving some big hits. We have capable players to take over positions when called upn to do so.

Saw Chris Powers today snapping the ball,he looks like he is ready to go. Don't know if he plays on Saturday. Got cold out there and again, I had to split.

Cory Mitchell, Ashton Clark, Nick Leonue, Todd Rhynes, Daniel Johnson, snatching all passes thrown to them. Of course Nick Edwards, Greg Heard, are solid as usual. Evan Day DL stated he will try tomorrow, see how the ankle feels. SAC State had a bye week, let us hope they were busy checking out the females instead of thinking of football ;) . David Gaylord are questionable, he has problems with hip, back, etc. The team is looking great even with the injured personnel. This team will prevail on Saturday, I Hope. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Jesus, we just cannot get a ****in break with this injuries this year. :ohno: This sucks for both Matt and Zach. The only bright spot in all of this is that our younger players will get more playing time. Shitty way for that to come about, though.

EWURanger,Kalm, And All,
Attended practice yesterday, the team is ready for another "VICTORY". SAC ST will be ready, but our team should take care of business. Spoke to Bo Levi, told him, Buddy, keep up the "great work", two games w/o any picks, keep up the outstanding work, he looked at me and ;)

He was hitting his Wide Receivers in stride. His brother (Cory), I've noticed how he goes and get the balls thrown to him. Our team has the "BEST WRS, in the FCS, I will put my change on any of them. Aston Clark #35, that young man impresses me each practice I've attended. After the practice, Coach had a little scrimmage with some of the younger players, was very impressive. Vernon Adams QB, he will be a very shifty individual with the ball, and he can really throw the ball, with a very quick release. Wide Receivers Nick Lenoue, Todd Rhaynes, look great in their positions. TE Jake Whitnel also looked great. Ashton Boothroyd also looked great on the DL.

Chris Power, looked great in practice, will be going with the team as will Matt Johnson. What was really impressive was watching the team admire the younger players, and cheering on their respective positions on OL/DL. Team will depart campus about 09:30am, depart Airport at about 11:30am hrs. Good Luck to all, safe travel to Sac ST, and return home. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Thanks for the update, Vic. :thumb: I too am very excited about all the young talent that is on this team. Check out this option read from young Mr. Adams in practice.

A big :notworthy: to Matt Johnson for a great career at EWU. Sucks he had to have his season ended this way, but his accomplishments here cannot be over-stated.

Echo the comments on Matt's career accomplishments and as a parent, want to also commend them both brothers' on their good scholarship, manners, and all around good guy status! It will stand them in good stead wherever life takes them.

Difficult to put into words what the Johnson twins have meant to our program and to our school. I will never forget how impressed Coach Wulff sounded at our 2007 EAA meeting when he did his annual breakdown regarding our recruits. He predicted great things for these two young men and he was absolutely correct. They both epitomize what Eagle athletics is all about. Good luck to both young men and to the Johnson family. I am not sure if we will see two players on our defense like Zach and Matt again. Hopefully we will see Zach back next season but if not nice job on the blitz last January 7 when you made the final big play in the biggest game in our long history. Just like your first game as an Eagle against Texas Tech, you and your brother had a knack for big plays. Get healthy and thanks again champs!

+1
As one door closes another opens. I am sure these guys will be successful at whatever paths they pursue in life. Real class act always rises to the top.

M Johnson is one of if not the best SS to ever play at EWU. Lets hope he can have a speedy recovery form his injury and best of luck in whatever youre endeavors are Matt!

As I recall one of the Johnsons was injured during his senior year in high school and wasn't getting much attention from the recruiters. The twins wanted to play together in college and Eastern was the only school that 'took a chance' and offered them both scholarships. You know the rest of the story. (Among the other recruits in '07 were Tyler Hart, Taiwan Jones, Dexter Moetului, Chris Powers, and Renard Williams.)

That group of players gave EWU it's 1st National Championship !!! GOEAGS

Yep, the 2007 recruiting class was definitely something special:

Darriell Beaumonte
Jeremy Chaten
Bobby Gentry
Tyler Hart
Mike Jarrett
Matt Johnson
Zach Johnson
David Miles
Charles Moetului
Chris Powers
Renard Williams

Besides Miles and Taiwan, all Washington kids. :notworthy:

eaglefoorball,
Your are correct about M. Johnson, we had another SS Kurt Schultz, who played for Buffalo Bills for about 8 years. Correct me if I am wrong. Kurt was here about 5 years ago at one of Michael Roos Fund Drive at Northern Quest, and he still looks the same, no hair, "BALD" ;) like I am ;). He came in with his mother, whom also looks very young. ;) ;) Go Eagles. Vic Wallace
