Jones out?

Hate to be the (potential) bearer of bad news, but heard through the rumor-mill that it might be sports-hernia related, which is not good. Bottom line, Taiwan is a tough kid and I am sure if he could have played he would have. We may need Beaumonte and Brown to step up big time the next few games. I know Brown's a true Freshman, but this could be his chance to show what he's got.

Took a shot to the repaired injury and should be good to go next weekend !! Precautionary move !

Hope you're right, but I'll believe it when I see it. A sports-hernia (especially a re-injured one) is a nasty injury and extremely painful. I would not be surprised to see him held out at least against Weber, and possibly the following game as well.

Even if he does play, our other backs are going to have to step up because there's no way they're going to give TJ as many reps with as many big hits as he's taken the last 3 games. As explosive a player at TJ is, I would love to see him getting the ball 25 times a game as he did against Montana - but the reality is that he won't make it through the season doing that.

That means more carries for our other backs. More running between the tackles with Beaumonte, and Brown will need to step up and make a few plays. We haven't really seen what Brown can do yet, so as I said this might be his chance.

As a Weber State fan I am sorry to hear about all the injuries to Taiwan Jones, I was really looking forward to seeing him play at full strength. I love to see great players play, and Taiwan is a great player. Hopefully he can recover quickly so he can at least play in the game.

Don't get me wrong, I want TJ to be healthy all season, but having to prepare with the possibility of being without him, might be a bit of a silver lining.

We clearly need better play from the QB position and BLM should be on a short hook as this is a playoff caliber team and the threat of a little competition might do him good. But I have faith in a head coach who was a college QB and has coached two NFL level QB's in the last 4 years to make the right decisions.

Good call kalm! I just hope we didn't sell the farm for this guy and Baldwins hands are tied !!

go to view all galleries and click the EWU game

I think the first photo in the album is the play that TJ got hut in.

Hope he recovers, he's a very dynamic player

Just read in today's press release from goeags.com that TJ is listed as "probable". Let's hope for a speedy recovery and that he can just play a complete game without too many more of these scares.

EWU Ranger/and All,

I am in complete agreement with all that have been stated. I am happy to hear we are not abandoning our team. We have an outstanding team, and they will get better. I must admit we got our butts ran out of Bozeman ;) , we just had all kinds of problems. Now we must get ready for Weber/NAU. We all knew the first 4 games are going to make or break us. This is a hell of of schedule for us or any team to have.

Reference to Taiwan Jones, I heard Coach Baldwin stating on his show yesterday, that the injury TJ has, is in the area where he had his Hernia operated on. Like bones rubbing against each other. Coach said he will play sparingly. I have heard people say run TJ as much as possible, it is time for the other Running Backs to get a chance to carry the ball, save TJ, he needs some rest. He will play as much as possible, we don't want to lose him for the season. WE have some young Outstanding Players, they will get better each game.

I didn't go to Practice yesterday/today, or the Radio Show on Monday, my daughter was sick, so we stayed close to home. If she is feeling better, we will go to practice tomorrow. I have already set my DVR to record the game on Saturday, the game will be on Altitude TV. DirecTV channels 681, I will not attent the "Watch Party", @ Northern Quest this Saturday, it gets to loud for me at times. Lets go and "WIN" for our Fans. Go Eagles!!!!!Vic Wallace

As much as I enjoy watching Jones play, I think they need to sit him for this game and see if some other players can step up to the plate. I havn't seen any practices but I have a feeling that the problem with BLM is that he is a bit pampered in practice; ie, he isn't allowed to take many hits and when he gets in a game he may be a tad bit nervous about getting hit. I think right now he is an average quarterback with a huge upside potential. I think if Jones is out theis may force BLM and the other running backs to step up their game a bit....

joemon,
I completely agree. TJ needs to take some time off. I hate to say this, because he is a "STUD" on the field. I noticed some of the teams have been taking some cheap shots at him, with that said, we need to get some of our other Runnning Backs a chance. We have some great Running Backs in waiting, ie, Darriell Beaumonte,#30, Mario Brown #25, Chase King #32 (RS injury)Daniel Johnson #37, he is listed as WR, but actually is a RB, Trenton Pinson #87, RS Freshman. If Tiawan is out, it will be a blessing, so he can completely heal. What I have heard about the injury to Taiwan, is around the pelvic area where the bones are rubbing. Hoping the injury is not as serious as we may think.

We are supposed to be getting a "Long Snapper" this month if he isn't here as yet. This young man had a Scholarship to Gramblin State, he wants to play for EWU, so he is walking on. He is from one of the Valley Schools. I missed two practices this week, I am getting ready to go back out to practice today. I think our team will respond this weekend, even at Weber State. Got to go. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

So TJ suits up and doesn't play a down in this one. I am wondering if this was all a ruse to throw Weber's game plan off some. I was not surprised that he did not play.

The win yesterday makes for a huge showdown Oct 9th with NAU - who is playing some pretty decent football right now. Just hoping that Taiwan is ready to go by then.

EWURanger,
I didn't expect TJ to be in the game. All last week he was at practice, but didn't participate. Finally BLM had a decent game, I just hope he is in his stride for the rest of the season. BLM scrambled once on Saturday, and he made up some badly needed yards for a 1st down.

I had a feeling our team was going to respond with a "WIN". Thanks to some of the "Outstanding Catches" of Brandon Kaufman made. That young man is an "Outstanding Wide Receiver, he deserve the "Player Of The Week", and more. We got a steal when he came here to play for us. I saw him all last year during the Summer Practices, I knew he was going to be great Wide Receiver for us.

That was a Basketball Game between Montana State and Sac State. Where was the defense for both teams?

The Announcers on Altitude TV spoke very highly of BLM, and our team. We knew we had to play for our life if we wanted to be in the running for the top spot, now we must hope for some help from other teams to knock off MSU. We blew our chances when we played MSU.

I will be there on Saturday for the NAU Game.I remembered the game last year against NAU, I got tired listening to the game, and I wasn't playing  That was a game both Teams played like a Basketball Game ;) .
The Big Sky Conference have some great teams, and anyone can defeat the other on any given day.

Well let us have a great week of practice, and get ready for NAU. Hope we have a great crowd.

Kalm,
Are you going to be there on Saturday? Depends on what time I get there I will attempt to look you up. Coach Beau and Fans will be in the old SWX area for the 6pm show. We will be able to hear what the Coach is saying during his Show. We will leave a little early, the Women Volley Ball Team will be playing Seattle University at 7pm Monday. Go Eags!!!!! Vic Wallace

SWX room at Norther Quest Casino. It is in Q Room with all the glass around it from the Bar Area. Forgot to mention where it is if you haven't seen or been in the area.Go Eags!!! Vic Wallace

Kalm,
Spoke with Tiawan this evening during the Voilleyball Game, he stated he doesn't miss any home game. I mentioned to him, do not ruin your health, "His Health Means More Than The Game" Hate to say that, he is such a "STUD" on the Field, and a very friendly, respectable person to talk with.

I promised the team if they beat Montans, they will have another meal from me. Will have to check with the Compliance Officer, Dr. Don Ross, make sure I am not violating and NCAA Rules. I hope I can get at least 25 of the Players this weekend. It will take me some time to feed the entire team, I promised I will get it accomplished, this includes the OL/DL. (Here comes the Poor House  Just Kidding. Had a great Coaches Show at 6pm, we were able to hear every word the Coaches and Players spoke.

Will try and find you on Saturday, if not you can find me in the Red Back Seats, 2nd row from the top, seats 5,6,7,8. Once you come through the gate from the top, keep to your right, will find me, shouldn't be any problem once you look down

I am inviting the QB'S,WR"S,DB"S,RB"S, Johnson Twins. I know some of the players came before, the promise I made was to them. Be Cool Bro.

Bo Levi Mitchell was at the Coaches Show, he spoke very well, and nice to know his brothers have set good examples for him to follow. p.s. Tiawan, stated if he continues to feel good, he will play depends on how the Coach utilize him. Hope to see you on Saturday. Go Eags!!!!! Vic Wallace

Do you cook island food? Conch fritters, jerk, beans and rice? That might be your price for admission to my tailgate.

Kalm,
I do cook all Islands dishes, however, I feel bad because 1 out of my 7 children eat all Islands Foods, the other 6 are allergic to the Iodine in the fish/Conch. As a matter of fact, I still have two bags of Conch left that my Sister sent me from Miami,Fla., last year. Once you have eaten Conch, "Bud" you don't want anything else to eat. I remembered diving for those Conchs when I was a little dude. We swam with nothing on. Sorry Ladies :D ;)

We had so much fun when the "Navy Destroyers" came into the Harbor, that is how I kept little change in my pockets as a kid. Had my mom and dad known what I was doing, my butt would have been on fire. We dove for the change when thrown into the "Blue Crystal Waters" Get home sick when I think of my younger days. If you are going to be late, how are you going to get your "Air Stream" into the Tailgate Area? You might have to park over night, then take your kids to practice/etc. That lot fills up very fast, even not being a Montana Game.

When I feed our Athletes, they eat Baby Backs Ribs, Catfish, Macaroni & Cheese, Collards. My Collard Greens are so good, once you eat them, they makes you want to "SLAP SOMEONE". I am hoping at least 25 come this time, last time just 9 showed up,communication problems. Well got to go, getting ready to go check out practice today. Go Eags.!!!!! Vic Wallace
