Is more a true freshman?

If so, he probably won't be redshirting this year considering his playing time on Saturday.

Yes, he is a true freshman and no, he won't be redshirting this year. In fact, he started against UC-Davis . Remember, this kid orginally made a verbal commitment to UCLA and was recruited by a number of other Pac-10 schools. Should become a dominant player, but still is green to the college game.

I saw his playing time. I hope we're not regretting the decision to play him this year in a few years.

Good write up about Moore and the d-line by Ian in the Big Oh.

Is it overly optimistic to think we could have a top FCS defense next year? With all these guys returning on the line, guys like Shead and Rau, and one or two new additions, it seems like that would be hard to beat at our level. What would our weaknesses be?

I agree entirely. The line, the linebackers, totally solid next year. Perhaps a little more depth at the corners. A top backup for Shead and Ross/Williams or someone else upping their game. But Rau, Shead, Sisler, and that line make next year very very promising.
