If June Jones really has put his name in, I wouldn't be surprised. If you're looking for a job you want to have several offers out there for leverage. So?
First of all there's money. At Hawaii and after he's made more than 800,000$ a year. If we could offer 200,000$ I'd be this time surprised. Then there's status (and again money): taking on PSU would mean stepping down to the FCS. I suppose if he were to take PSU high in the play-offs he'd maintain his status. But would he?
Then there's style. Everything he does is pass-oriented. I personally don't mind that. But we've been living on the run, recruiting QBs that can run a lot and pass so-so. Do any of our QBs fit his style? I don't think so. There would be a couple years re-building. Expensive.

I hope he does put in his name. It gives US leverage!

Good points here. Walsh gave us our best success at the DI level and he ran the ball. Glanville came in and abruptly changed to a passing offense and that was a disaster. Then Burton changed to a run just as quickly and that didn't do anything. If Jones switches right back to a passing offense, would that make things better right away (and put butts in the seats)?

A whole new offense requires a different set of recruits to operate. How long will the new coach have to implement their philosophy? How long will we have to get people to watch it?
 
All this does is confuse me even more about what they are doing. The article says that PSU contacted Jones about the job, didn't they just get done saying that Barnum is the coach for next season. Are they contacting other coaches as well or is this article off base? :?
 
May need to economize one more year. Also, if Barnum turns in a good performance, it bodes well for him in interviews. My guess is the table needs some finishing touches. One more season?
