Just had a peek at the roster....

I'd like you guys to jump in on this.

Seems we only have 4 QBs. This isn't the NFL where rules and salary cap come into play. If we only have 4 QBs, the Hammerheads had BETTER be good. I'd hate for the coaches to have to start asking around who played QB in high school in the middle of a game. I do know that there IS a schollie cap and an ultimate player limit and there are only so many reps available in practice, but we could have some players dual-listed.

I'd feel MUCH more comfortable with 6 listed QBs, even if a couple are also playing wideout or tailback.

I thought last season's roster only had 4 QB's listed as well (Smith, MBT, Loeliger, Carmazzi)? I don't see what the worry is with 4 being listed again this season.

We did have 4 last year, but this year we have MBT, Murdaca (who still has a lot of work to do) and Carmazzi, who's not someone I'd like to throw into a game. The kid from the Citadel has to sit, and the only other prospect is Jenkins who is going to be at WR. With MBT's knee in a brace, it's a concern to me that he stay healthy. Walkons anyone??

Chi makes a good point, SD. The only problem I would have with it is his characterization of Baby Brother.

Even if we don't have a "formal" fifth or sixth QB, if we could have someone who primarily plays another position (maybe even the punter, who's used to taking snaps), that would alleviate my worries to some degree. While we don't have the worries one would have with an option-based attack (that is, one predicated on the option, not merely using it as a tool among many in the arsenal), it's like a rope: one might not need it often, but the day one does is usually the day one does not have it with them. It wasn't too long ago that U of A had to start their 4th stringer against then-#1 Washington after the starter and the third stringer were picked up for grand theft auto and the second-team guy quit.

(BTW, the idea of using the punter as a QB isn't all that far-fetched. Back in the late-70s-early 80s, Ray Guy, the only pure punter ever drafted #1 and probably the best ever, was the Raiders' emergency QB.)
