Just Wondering...

Let the Coaches decide who plays. Obviously Paige can play. He gets reps in games. The more big plays or crucial catches he makes the more he'll play. I frankly like all the receivers that have been mentioned in this thread. Break down each one of them and there's something positive they can do to help us win. Sperbeck and company get paid for these decisions, I'm sure they're doing their best to put the right combo on the field. If that becomes to much for them, it'll be NEXT! Just a side note, the passing game always works better when there's time to throw and the QB makes the right check offs and reads. Also, if used deceptively, large, slower, (TE's or Y's) are effective.

Thank you :)

Are you SERIOUS? How can you expect people to take you seriously with statements like that!?

I'm very serious. Do you see me laughing? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you feel Cyrus has a better shot than that's fine. I just happened to believe that Paige's talent is uncanny.

I've only seen maybe 2 or 3 practices in the last two years, and maybe parts of a couple dozen or so (I used to watch for 15-20 minutes before a class in Tahoe Hall. Paige is definately athletically giften, but seems to have some of the same problems as his brother Stephon. Dedication questions, durability issues, and "football" character issues.

Again, with the character issues... Why haven't I've seen this "questionable dedication, durability issues and football character issues"? 2 or 3 practices in the LAST 2 years means nothing to me. You're judging someone on their past play. I've been to practices this year and I see that Paige is a talent that is yet to receive an opportunity to shine in game-time situations and is STILL humble. If he does in the game what he does at practice and DaPrato or Sperbeck (whoever has the final say) actually give him a chance; we have an even better chance of winning each game because those other 3 are NOT as talented and good as he is.

Maybe he should try track?

Asinine statement. Pardon me for not responding.

Kadeezy said:
He's a Mooshagian guy to me, not a Sperbeck guy.

And AGAIN with the mythical character issues. Since this is YOUR opinion; what is exactly Kadeezy's definition of what a "Mooshagian guy" or "Sperbeck guy" is for that matter? I need you or SHA, JMB or somebody to tell me what has Paige done this year to make you guys question his character or attitude.

I find your position that Paige has the best chance of anyone on the team to play on Sundays laughable. The truth is that maybe 2-3 guys on this roster right now will even get a chance to sign as an UDFA with an NFL team in the future. Maybe one (Cyrus) stands a chance at getting drafted. Off the top of my head here are some guys on our roster who stand a better chance of getting a shot in the NFL...

Cyrus Mulitalo
Mike Brannon
Bryan Hilliard
Juan Gamboa
Oscar Dealba
Mike Hickman
McCleod Bethel Thompson
Tony Washington
Bill Sherman
Peter Lenz
Clint Lessard
Ray Navar
Christian Clark
Zack Nash

The only thing laughable besides some of these names on this list is this continued revolt against Paige and his play. Based on what you guys have all said, Paige is good or even great, but his ATTITUDE turns you off of him. Why aren't you turned off by Hill's attitude? He has no respect for Sperbeck or the coaching staff. That is a character issue. Yet, no one has anything to say about his attitude. I stand on what I said: Yes, Paige has a better shot in getting and establishing a good career over Mulitalo. I'm not discounting Mulitalo in any way because he definitely is a hog, but I feel the league will always have a need for a tall and fast receiver versus an MLB. Not to mention a good WR at that. He definitely will outlast everyone you have on that list IMO. Either way, thanks for your piece, I appreciate it.

This actually is a good point, but it also proves what I'm saying. We TRUST that the coaches are playing the best people. He could be for all the other positions as far as I'm concerned, but I don't think he is at WR. And I don't want you guys to think I have anything against Deadder, Hill or Lane; but I just think that Paige (and Blea) are better than them. Simple as that. And he DOESN'T get reps in the games. He may get in at 3 or 4 plays maximum on HB screens, if that. But maybe we will all see if I'm wrong or right about this whole thing.

On the flip side, I honestly think a receiving TE would definitely add more versatility to the offense. We could abuse the seem of those zone coverages all day long!

THR - You are a definite Paige fan. As passionate as you are, I think there may a place in your heart for him as well. I agree, he has the attributes of size and willingness to go over the middle. However, I've not seen blazing speed or an ability to get vertical in a game. I'm not saying he doesn't have it, I've just not seen it. Also, I don't think anyone is questioning his character this year. I think it is only speculation based on your question as to why is he not playing more. Until someone here on this board mentioned there may be past issues, I never knew or assumed his playing time was based on character issues. Paige does have talent and I hope he blossoms over the next six weeks as it will make for nice finish to our season. As for the other receivers, I give them credit for working hard and earning their playing time. They deserve it as well. Go Hornets!

THR, the only non-football character issue I'm aware of is the internet BSC smack talking after not playing a down.

That's in the the past, forgiveable, done.

BUT, I have watched him on the sidelines (as I do most players to gauge their interest in the game) looking disinterested while we have the ball, goofing off, etc.

When he does play, he doesn't look bad. I guess the best comparison I can make is Vernon Davis. Paige is physically gifted, but occasionally gets alligator arms and doesn't have the best hands. Also, I would describe his routes as lacking fluidity and his run blocking suspect. I guess that's the best way I can describe it.

I would love to see him play more because the sample size is definately small. I would hope that Sperbeck and staff would always put the players on the field that give the team the best chance to win. If for some reason those plans don't include Paige, then I'm fine with that. If they do, that's fine too. I trust this staff's judgement.

To me a Sperbeck guy is a blue collar player who may not be the most talented, fastest or biggest but works the hardest to get what he's got (see Tony Washington, Jake Croxdale - TBD?)

I agree with EVERYTHING you just said... But what's up with this:

Lol... I don't know if I like that statement. I don't have a man-crush on the guy, but I'm definitely a fan of his play. But I have ALWAYS been a fan of big WRs. Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson even Clarence Moore from NAU (He got released from the Ravens a couple years ago I think) so that may also attribute to why I'm on the Paige bandwagon I guess. Again, Hill along with the other receivers have been solid, but I just think Paige is better than them and we could have two deep threats instead of one....

Think of it as a Roy Williams and Terrell Owen receiver tandem... Lol... Not really, but similar.

Now this... I will definitely give you. Like you, I watch how the players are on the sidelines as well (If i didn't, I wouldn't have known about that Hill incident) and I don't know if I would go as far as calling it goofing off, but there are times where he may look disinterested or frustrated but I think that stems from wanting to be on the field. Nevertheless, he cannot be sour about it either. But I know how that feels as I had to prove myself to my football coach in high school for half of my junior year to get in the D-Line rotation. It does get frustrating when you honestly believe that you can have more of an impact in favor of your team if you just got the chance. Other than that, great point Kadeezy.

**They're talking trash about you in DaGriz thread... You better head over there. Lol..

THR - No man-crush thoughts. I was thinking along lines of close relative or long time family friend. That's the kind of man-love lol, I was referring to.

I need you or SHA, JMB or somebody to tell me what has Paige done this year to make you guys question his character or attitude.

I said nothing about the mans character or attitude. I was simply trying to state that by watching some preactices and talking to your "sources" may not give you the full picture. This coach has given you no reason to believe that he would not play the best player available. He has earned the right to factor attitude, desire, character, or anything else into that decision. If Paige feels that he is not getting a fair opportunity and that he will not get a fair opportunity I imagine that he would want to think about playing elsewhere. If he has NFL level skills like you believe, he will have no problem catching on at any school at any level.

Lol, Well I just formally met the guy for the first time a couple weeks ago and he seems pretty cool. That's why I didn't understand the character issues everyone was speaking of. I didn't see them in him. Well, I think like SHA says, only time will tell if he plays or if Sperbecks decision is indeed a good one.
