Kasey Closs, Portland State Vikings receiver and Lake Oswego native, signs with Jacksonville Jaguars

Portland State Vikings wide receiver Kasey Closs made the most of a rookie mini-camp tryout last weekend earning a free agent contract from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Closs was signed to the Jaguars' 90-man roster on Monday.
A two-year letterwinner for Portland State, Closs led the Vikings in receiving the past two seasons. He had 105 receptions for 1,705 yards and 12 touchdowns in 22 games. A native of Lake Oswego, the 6-3, 205-pound Closs attended Lake Oswego High School and played two seasons at Saddleback Junior College before coming to Portland State.
Closs was one of five players to earn a free agent contract from Jacksonville. Twenty-eight players participated in the mini-camp.

"Where I think I made my mark was special teams. I returned kicks, punts and kickoffs. That will be a key for me going forward as far as securing a spot – finding a way to get on all the special teams."
Jacksonville's official off-season Organized Team Activities ('OTAs') begin May 26-28 and continue into June. Mandatory Minicamp is scheduled for June 16-18.
Closs is the second Viking to sign with Jacksonville this spring. Former PSU football/basketball star and current NFL All-Pro tight end Julius Thomas signed with the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent on March 11.
