Vs Saints
(1 down, 10 to go) and 1-0

Not to state the obvious.... but they are 1-3 (0-3 at the Division 1 level), with 7 games left, and here are some of the future opponents:

Northern Arizona is 3-1 with a win over UNLV, and their only loss is to Arizona St.
Poly is 3-0 with a win over Wyoming.
Eastern Washington is 2-1 with a win over Idaho, and their only loss is to Washington St.
Montana State is 4-0.

To make the playoffs, PSU pretty much needs to beat all of those teams and Davis, Idaho State, and Northern Colorado without losing a game to get to 7 D1 wins.

vs SUU
OK, been away from computer. 4 down, 7 to go (1-3).
Regardless, the stench of the burning ship is choking me to death.

P.S. Jas, I don't believe FCS teams need 7 D1 wins to qualify for playoffs. BCS teams need 7 wins against D1 teams to qualify for bowl games. That still doesn't help me breathe any easier!

I think you're right, 7 D1 wins is not a rule, but I've read that it's something the committee really looks at. I've seen quite a few places that there has never been an at large bid given to a FCS team with less than 7 wins over division 1 opponents. Pretty crazy considering some teams have 9 or 8 FCS opponents while others have 11 on their schedule.

I sure hope they can get a win Saturday. It would be nice to make it out of September with a mathematical chance at the playoffs.

Well, so much for campaigning for an invite to join the MAC or any other conference considered one level up. At this rate I'd be happy with a .500 season. Disheartening. :ohno:

vs NAU

There's not much left on this ship - cinders really. When can we expect the royal fire department to come to the rescue? 5 down, 6 to go (1-4)

dude, we're 2-4, lets not tack on another loss until we're beaten.

Thanks Grant - my fingers weren't workin' too well. Made the adjustment, and by golly it looks better!

Amusing - over on the CFC forum everyone seems to assume that PSU (along with UNC and ISU) is a walk-over. Fact is, we have no idea still at this point just how bad or good PSU is. We're a team in the making. I don't see us beating CP, but it will be reasonably close. And we'll beat UCD. At least.

I am more than a little worried that Portland State can beat Cal Poly this week. Should be a great game.

Having a bye week ahead of back to back road games is certainly helpful, especially for a Viking team that really needs to fine tune some aspects of their game. This should be a really fun, hard fought game, especially since the Mustangs have a very proficient running game, and the Viks run D has been formidable. No predictions here, except to say that if the Viks are fortunate to come back from these two outings with wins, the hair on my neck may just tingle a bit.
