Keeping up with the FBS mess

SJ: I don't like it, but only because of my dislike of the entire premise of FBS. The vast majority of others here will probably see some good things in it, and I will not be able to refute their points because they are valid. The one sticking point isn't so much Benson (word is he's been after us from Day One), it's Farrell. The Big West just doesn't want any more NorCal schools now that they have FE to be UOP's travel partner. Heck, even a SoCal school like Bako can't even get in. They saw what happened with Riverside and are afraid that we'll be the same thing. They're patently WRONG about that, but that's what they think. I just think that any attempt to do this will make us look like the XDSUs did when they tried to kick the door to the Sky in.

I'm afraid that SJSU might just fold their tent if the WAC blows up. I hope I'm wrong about that, though, because any day that sees a university dump ANY sport is a bad day.

Here is a wild idea for Benson.

Merge with the WCC. Force Santa Clara and St. Marys to resurrect their football programs. My buddy who graduated from Santa Clara is always bragging about their Sugar Bowl game. Yea that was like 100 years ago when they used rocks for footballs.

Voila, you get everything you wanted. :lol:

The WCC has a good thing going for them; they have no incentive to blow it up. Plus they are a solid hoops conference and typically get 2 bids each year, no reason to share that wealth with a depleted WAC whose notable programs are NMSU and USU for hoops and zero relevant football programs.
