KenPom has Weber ranked 94 of all D1 teams going into the season, with planned 22-7 record for the seasons and 16-4 conference record, good for 1st place. Will be interesting to see how the actual compares.

For out of conf games, models have Weber losing to BYU (by 8), Colo St (by 3) and UCLA (by 10) and beating USU, SJS, UT Arlington. In Conf, the model only predicts a loss at MIssoula (by 1 pt). Has MT losing to NoCo both at home and on the road. :yikes:

Big Sky conference order of finish: Weber St (16-4), MT (14-6), No Colo (13-7), No Dak (11-9), EWU (9-11), NAU (9-11), PSU (8-12), ISU (8-12), Sac St (8-12), MT St (7-13), and S Utah (6-14).

Ken knows his stuff. Quantifiable data and empirical research has its place in sports. Something, I grudgingly and reluctantly have to admit.

I agree with Bengal. We need to take it all with a grain of salt.

There are WAGs and then there are SWAGs. KenPom's predictions would fall into the SWAG category; A Sientific Wild A$$ed Guess. That means that he tries to back up his WAG with a little bit of math.

Not sure how you quantify data for players who've never played a college game, however.

Amen!! Quantitative analysis can only be measured in as far as stats or "data" has been accumulated, collected, or even transpired. I'm sure Ken would pull the high school/AAU numbers and through them attempt to validate a recruits overall significance to a program and how that recruit will either enhance or degrade that programs development. You make a great point though Bengal. And I thoroughly agree.

I'm more of a qualitative guy, but...
