The radio home of Sac fooball and men’s hoops, 1240 KSAC, recently changed formats from “progressive”/liberal talk radio to… gospel music (“Rejoice 1240”). http://www.sacbee.com/102/story/820109.html

I wonder who Sac will contract with for the upcoming season. Granted Sac football and basketball can use all the prayers than can get these days; however, you could certainly see a station change to go with the format change. 1240 Was woefully underpowered, so I’d really like to see them transition to a station with a stronger signal. All the better to reach in to the surrounding area with Hornet sports.

Yeah, I'd like to see a switch too. KSAC never came in too clear, even in the SAC area. I thought the reception, production, etc was much better when we were on 1380.

I don't really mind the format change. Contemporary Christian Music is my cup of tea. However, what's more to the point is the lack of power. How can one get much of a listenership regardless of format if one has a weak source.

We're too far from the border to take advantage of the X call letters (ala Double X Sports Radio on 1090 in San Diego), so the 75-100 kW range is off-limits. Fifty kW would work IF a station would take us. 1040 is so Bay/Davis-slanted that THAT option would never work. The best bet would be if we could find someone with deep pockets and a radio background that could start a 50 kW station in Sac that would be willing to dedicate time to the Hornets. An all-sports format like 1090 would be great, but at this point, we'll take anything we can get.

I wonder if we could get on the new sports radio channel in Sacramento?

KCTC-AM 1320, they broadcast ESPN radio and have a 5KW signal. I listen to them more than 1140.
