Lady Cats in WBI (Warning post contains WBB)

Our women won!

79 - 53

It was close for a while, but SCU seemed to run out of steam. It may have been the altitude, but by the end they had trouble getting up and down the floor. They made the mistake of trying to press and run with us and it just wore them down. They did have some inside strength, but we used our quickness and fresher legs to get around it. We also shot the lights out, 54% from the floor, 47% from three.

It was a fun game to watch, with a good crowd, and the band.

Next Game, Louisiana @ Louisiana for the championship.

"The Wildcats now have a 23-11 record which is the winningest season in school history. Weber State will travel to Lafayette, LA. to take on the Ragin Cajun on Saturday, March 24 at 3 p.m. "

Yeah, I joked about the men watching the women to learn how attack a press. Most of the men were there supporting the women. It was funny watching and listening to them cheer on the women. I hope the ladies can cap a successful season by bringing home some hardware from LA. GO WEBER!

haha. Yeah. I watched Joel totally do a "Home Alone" face, slapping his hands to his face when one of our women tossed an errant pass out of bounds.

Are you going to start that altitude argument again olds?? I was right then and I'm right now....altitude effects teams from near sea level the most...

 I thought after you two had your magical, romantic meet up in Reno that the banter back and forth about altitude would stop.

I was just trying to be nice and give USCU an easy, FUBAR, excuse for how poorly they played in the 2nd and 4th quarters. I don't actually believe that. They simply had no depth and we were playing 10 players, 5 guards at a time mostly, and just ran them when ever we could. They have vastly superior big girls and kicked our butts on the boards and in the paint. They just couldn't stay on our shooters long enough to keep us from filling it up from the three point line. Their second string guards were awful. :yikes:

To be totally honest, I'm sure that altitude has something to do with it, but it wasn't a 26 point something. Maybe coastal teams need to alter their substitution patterns when the play in them there hills.

Louisiana fan here. I just dropped by to congratulate your women on a fine season. I was extremely impressed with your team and your coach. I love the up tempo offense, and your team's floor spacing, passing and movement away from the ball was impressive.

Your team is just a long, athletic post player or two away from being really, really good. If we had not dominated the offensive boards, your team would have won easily.

Your guard play as a whole is the best we played all year. # 2 and # 22 lit us up.

Hang on to that coach. She is a good one. She maximized your strengths and covered up your weaknesses, and gave your women their best chance to win.

Good luck in the future. Maybe next time we meet we will be dancing.

Thanks for your input. You hit the nail on the head. We had such a player before the season started, but lost her due to medical reasons. It also seems to be one of the more difficult things to find these days. We have some young women who might develop, but need to find some size for rebounding and defense. I believe that these coaches will get the job done.

I'm sure that our team would love to meet anyone at the dance in years to come. It would be great to get a home and home with you guys, on the men's or women's side, in the future.

I know I would like that, as would many of our fans, though not many would make the trip to Ogden when we played there. Now to convince the decision makers to do it (at least on our end) might be problematic. They tend to not think too far out of the box. Lol
