Well, Montana State had its way last night with Monmouth and North Dakota destroyed Valparaiso (not known for football), so where do these scores put us with the Langston game ?? Will this game be some sort of barometer of where we need to be ?

Unfortunately those blowouts do nothing to help us on Saturday. I just hope the team is focused and ready to play, especially the first 2 weeks against programs we have to beat. It seems we turned the corner the second half of last season but I still have apprehension considering our somewhat recent embarrassing games against lower level teams.

This game doesn't do much for us. I'm hoping we don't have to show CSU-P much by rolling out a very limited play book. Let's hope the 2nd stringers are in by late 2nd quarter.

Where were Bumpas, Willingham and T Dennis?

I found it really strange that Bumpas wasn't playing because according to KFKA they were "resting" him. Wouldn't this be the perfect time to play him for a half or the entire game but sitting him out a few series' since it's been so long?

From the Trib:

Players suspended

The University of Northern Colorado football team finished a lot of categories on the plus side Saturday afternoon, but when it came to starters, the Bears were minus-six.

Six players — four on defense and two on offense — were suspended for Saturday’s home victory over NAIA Langston University at Nottingham Field.

“They were in violation of team rules,” UNC head coach Earnest Collins Jr. said. “It was from (an incident) that happened last spring.”

Defensive starters who were suspended: linebackers Clarence Bumpas and Leilon Willingham; defensive end Devontate Chapple and defensive tackle Chris Urbaniak.

Urbaniak was suspended only for a half and saw action in the second half.

Offensive starers who were suspended: wideout Jace Davis and tailback Tromaine Dennis.

It’s expected that all six will be reinstated for this Saturday’s 1:35 p.m. home game against Colorado State University-Pueblo, but Collins wouldn’t commit to a definite answer.

“We’ll see, Collins said. “We’ll just have to wait and see.”
