Last Week - BSC regular

Interesting scenarios coming up! Will Wildcats play the role of spoiler? Wildcats in 8th place now, with a win over Idaho on Thurs., would tie them at that point with Vandals for 7th-8th place. But then following is Eastern Washington, who will be fighting for a chance to make a tie with Montana for 2nd place.

Sacramento St can reign as 1st place with 2 wins vs SUU & NAU...could be tough...Hornets with 1 win would get to reign with tiebreaker (assuming both Griz & Eagles win their games)??

Montana still has a chance to reign if they beat MSU (assumed) & Sac St loses 2, EWU loses 1 game?
Are these correct scenarios???
MARCH MADNESS BEGINS !!!!

To tell you the truth....I'm just worrying about winning one more next week.... I can't keep track of all the other scenarios. You guys ought to be rooting for us against SUU as they have a slight chance of catching you. If they catch you they hold all the tiebreakers over you.

SUU at home will be tough...but is Hornet's better chance for a win...Lumberjacks a tougher deal because they lost out top spot chance with loss to UNC & are mad...a mad lumberjack can be dangerous!

FYI: Montana won the regular season title for Women's BB & will host tourney. Women Wildcats are in a 3 way tie for 9th place (meaning likely out of the tourney?).

Begs the question: Is this Ord's last year as head coach??

I actually know a little about this. According to people I've chatted up in the athletics department, Ord's job is pretty safe right now after the steps forward this season.

And to be honest, if they didn't have their senior PG tear her ACL against NAU, I think they would have won at least two, possibly three of their last four games instead of dropping all four and would be a safe bet for the tournament.

I think they will be one of the top five teams next season. They have a lot of good players now.

Okay so March is here after a dreadful February. Yes...we definitely want a Sac win on Thurs. knock SUU out and they win the Sky. I just don't want Montana. Weber desperately needs a win against Idaho. I wish Senglin could be back. Him being out has forced our team to get better. Now we need him to bring it all together. Big game for the Cats. Gotta beat the Vandals!

A one year contract at most for Ord. If there is drastic improvement over this season give her two. To me she is on an extremely short leash. However, she is a hell of a recruiter. I noticed on ESPN that she got two high level three star recruits. Hope for the best. She has all the resources. Is getting some of the best recruits in the Sky and has decent assistants. The team should be primed next season to blossom.

Any thoughts on KenPom's generator forecast giving Weber St a 54% chance of beating Idaho...?
(Also provides a 60% chance of Sac St beating SUU.) Per [email protected]. Would set up the interesting possibility of a Round One game between Hornets & Wildcats as mentioned on another thread. :o This fan considers it a surprise that Wildcats are favored (?) over Vandals, even at home. :o

My feelings are that we have a good chance of pulling out a win over UI. We've been playing with a little more purpose lately and UI is 1-6 on the road in BSC games so far this year. They beat us by two on their home floor and the home floor is generally worth about 10 points. This is a winnable game for us. We just need to play with intensity and as a team. They are a guard dominated team that doesn't play a lot of D. If we can defend their guards, just a little bit, we will be OK. :coffee:

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but I was just curious at the layout of the BSC Tourney. Are they just doing the normal 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 or are they giving bye rounds?

Everyone has to play three nights to win it. I don't know if that is the fairest way to do it. It almost seems like the Sky doesn't want the top program representing in the Dance. Taking the tournament away from the regular season winner, making them play three nights, what next? Will the Big Sky tell the regular season champ to play with 4 players and their coach in the locker room?

Listened to Coach on the radio yesterday and he said he liked the regular season champ hosting. I thought Fullerton told everyone that all the coaches were 100% behind having a neutral location and tournament. Sounded to me like our coach was against that idea. He didn't sound to keen even on the idea of having a tournament.

By the way...Dubs when did you become a SUU fan? ;-)

Read again earlier article from the signpost ("Big Sky to Continue Study...") where Rahe said he was a bit "torn" between a predetermined site & the regular season champ hosting, BUT he understood why the conference would like to go to a planned neutral site...and he favored maybe rewarding a bye or two to the regular season champ. Rahe was also quoted as saying sure any of the coaches would like it if the regular champ hosts, IF IT'S THEIR TEAM.

Also had he's in strong favor of ALL teams invited giving a "second chance" to all. I didn't read anything saying he was against it.

Also remember that the BSC commissioner in on record as supporting the present tourney set up.

Coaches speak can waver, all but the canned excuses!! :twocents:

Coach Rahe is young and inexperienced when it comes to answering questions about a preset tournament location. Lets see how all of the coaches answer questions about the tournament after 3 years in Billings?

This, to me, is so stupid. So they should give the bottom half of the conference a "second chance"? Chance for what? To win the tournament and represent the conference in the NCAA? Yeah, like that would be great for the conference. You have 18 chances during the conference season to prove yourself. Just kill the tournament already!

Rahe on the radio was a good laugh! They co signed the young team theme and asked him about making the tourney. Rahe's response was the more games this young team can play the better!!!! Lmao!

This team has played a ton of games! It's nice to get the softball questions.... But enough is enough! It's time to play ball! I can't wait for next year's theme.... Hopefully they'll be old enough to shave!!!

Plus, catch the SE article in today's newspaper where Coach Rahe also said "Then they (Wildcat players)have to do it (play a little better) when two or three kids are not playing their normal positions...". As if all this, a result of Senglin's injury? Hmm...I guess there is a difference between their "normal" position & their position of "strength" going on for awhile this year...I'm :? nothin' new for me on coaches speak.

To the public, the coach (any coach) is going to say public things. If he were to say everything about the team and situation that has been on his mind, he would be fined by the league, fired by the school, and ridiculed by everyone. All coaches have to maintain that 'coach speak' in order to keep and do their jobs. The coaches know it, the media know it, and most of us fans know it. Sometimes you can do a little reading between the lines, but then it just becomes speculation on our part.

I'm pretty sure that our coaches of all of the problems we have seen and discussed on this forum. I am positive that these issues are being addressed in practices and in their recruiting. We will know what they are really thinking by what happens this spring and summer.

I think that I have said it before, but I fully expect us to be right back on track next year. I also expect to see us fight to the bitter end this year. A wounded cat can really be mean. :twocents:

I'm sure that internally, Rahe had a reason for playing players out of their natural position. He's been doing it since the beginning of the season. It was not a result of Senglin's injury. You won't hear it from me very often, but the members of the board had it right early in the season. We've been playing the wrong line up almost all season. I hope the players are able to transition back to their natural positions next season. Then the excuse will be that they need time to transition back to their natural positions!
