Least Experienced Team in BSC

One of the other tweets mentions that we are 3rd nationally in team 3 pt shooting. After Saturdays game, we are actually tied for second with Evansville at 42.6 behind William & Mary's 43.3. Michigan State is right behind us and Idaho in the Top 10 as well.
A little further searching has the Cats at #8 in team FG% at 50.8%. St. Mary's leads the nation at 51.9%.
Hold on, I'm not done ... one of the things I've noticed is our FT shooting has improved significantly as the year has progressed. Actually it may be one guy, Braxton, who has improved significantly as Harding, Richardson, Baker and Nelson (though he doesn't get to the line much) are all outstanding at the line. But Braxton has gotten a lot better helping Weber land at #17 in team FT% at 77.2.
This just confirms something I think many of us thought, this would be a very good shooting team. This week is going to be really fun!

i think its safe to say we are the least experienced team in the sky just about every year. the last time we have had 5+ seniors on one team was in 2003 (7) and 2004 (5). i think only one rahe team had 4 but most have had 1-3 seniors per year.
cravens went 16-0 in 03, the 04 team under performed (7-7) and won 18 games. then the roster was too depleted in 2005 and 2006 and we weren't any good yet the 05 team lost the big sky title game after missing a buzzer shot by jamal jenkins. but that is wsu style, you can be 1 yr removed from the big sky title game and still get the boot. :shock:
i am not sure if i am making any points or just observations. rahe has a great graduation rate of players, i would think the best in the sky. i pay close attention and see lots of players cycling through the program and many not making it to their senior season but i look around and see the same issue all over the ncaa. i hate seeing the players not make it but i dont really want us to go 0-18 just to keep everyone.
i think our coaches do try to help the players that don't make it so to speak, they transfer elsewhere. the good news though is if you can make it to your senior in ogden you will graduate. i saw players from the past couple of coaches have players not graduate. i never see that under rahe. are there any? the only one i know of i guess would be lillard but he didn't actully play his senior year. he could have been in school another year. he still got his diploma 3 yrs later.

We will be just as inexperienced next year and probably the year after. The real problem of being the most experienced, like UI, is that the next year or two could be bad, really bad. As far as transfers go, It is a fact of life in D1 ball, and probably all of NCAA basketball. If a player isn't going to play or fit in with a program, they should transfer. the player's hands are not tied and neither should the coaches be. The best scenario would be to have 2 to 3 seniors every year. It's not good to have less and too many makes for a rocky future.

good point sir. it is nice that we don't have to hit rock bottom in the big sky after we have a 5+ senior team and then wait 2-3 yrs to rebuild like many others.
