Let the speculation begin

Thanks for the detailed update. I've been saying this for a while but the self sufficiency thing has been what's kept the program together. It makes it impossible for people to argue for cutting the program to spend money on other areas (you'll still hear that from folks though). If the program were cut, zero dollars would go anywhere else. This means that every dollar we raise stays in the program as well. Its a good time to push for fundraising and I hope coach Barnum seizes that opportunity.

PSU will pay him the remainder of his contract at $187,500. Under the terms of his contract, if Burton is hired elsewhere next year, he will receive less than that amount and would be paid the difference between his contract payout and a new salary.

When I first read that in November, I thought it was insane to think that he would pick up a coaching job this year. Fast forward five months and I sure haven't heard anything about him getting a job elsewhere. Is it safe to assume that he's going to take a year off and PSU will pay him the $187K?
