Lillard

What's everyone's take on the Trail Blazers being so high on Damian Lillard?

It'd be nice to see him knock down three pointers in Portland and not curse under my breath. ;-)

He seemed to stick out like Stuckey from EWU as one of those players that would most certainly be playing at the next level.

I remember thinking he was a special player when I realized that everyone in the gym knew that Bamforth would score some and pretty much the rest was going to be Lillard. And PSU couldn't do anything to stop him.

Seems like with every workout his stock is rising. Now there's talk of him going #6. I really hope Portland takes him. Heck of a shooter, better play maker than people give credit, and everyone says positives about him as a person.

I know most people on this board have probably seen him play, but I think it's funny that EVERYONE in Portland has a strong opinion about Lillard's game, and there weren't even 1,000 people in the stands when he played PSU.

Good point about everyone in Portland having an opinion on him. You'd think one of the sports radio stations would try to have Geving or someone on his staff call in for an interview since they've seen much more of him than anyone in Portland.

As a Blazers fan, I'm pretty down on this pick. When I watched Lillard play against PSU (which I did four times, counting TV), I always felt like he was the best player on the court, but never felt like he was that much better. I find it hard to believe that someone truly worthy of the #6 pick wouldn't have been head and shoulders above most other players in the Big Sky.

Just rewatched the game where Lillard had 38 on youtube (video title is "chehales tapscott" It's missing a few baskets at the end of the first half but worth watching) . Truly one of the most amazing shooting displays I've ever seen, but what I hadn't remembered from the game was that Lateef really kept Lillard in front of him all night and had a hand in his face on most shots. I know I sound insane saying that someone did a nice job guarding a guy who almost had 40, but knowing that he is now considered the best point guard in the country by many, Lateef really did.

I started following the Big Sky a year after Rodney Stuckey, but being from the same league people keep comparing Lillard to Stuckey. Do you guys who saw Stuckey play remember him being head and shoulders above the rest of the league? More so than Lillard?

I remember leaving the Stott after seeing Stuckey play for the first time. 'Best player I've ever seen since the program was restarted.' The bias in me says that he became protected by the officials when he became a star in the Big Sky, but he gravitated to the next level nonetheless.

Lillard is better.

If he comes in and they put him as a true point guard, he should do well. The point that can hit the three is a very, very good asset.

I'm looking forward to camp to see what he can do.
