I've notice that Jordan Tally is moving back to running back for his last year and Albert Havili is moving from linebacker to d-line. Along with those moves we lost Coy McCarthy and Ronnie Hamlin to gradation, does all of this mean we are real deep at linebacker?

We are going to be spread very thin at linebacker. The coaches must be relying on Jake Gall to fill some very big shoes, for he is the only real up and comer I foresee. Pray for a transfer.

Rjones61;
Yesterday I went and saw the team in their 1st practice. If I am not mistaking, I saw approximately 5 Line Backers or more on the team. Here are the LB's on the roster. #43 Jake Gall, #44 John Kreifes, #49 Miquiyah Zamora, #50 Alek Kacmarcik (this young man is going to be great),#52 Mac McLachman, Albert Havili, Cody Beckerring (came in Winter Quarter), Kurt Calhoun from Zillah HS. I saw some walk ons yesterday as Line Backers. I can honestly say the Players returning are very well buffed up this year, along with some new comers. It was cold and windy yesterday, little rain here and there. Will try and make today at 4 p.m. Vic Wallace

We'll be young, but I don't think we'll be as thin as you think.

We have impressive players coming in that can play some linebacker. We'll have some young kids on the active roster IMO at a few positions.

Will we be faster? We have a need for speed

Much faster at all positions. We have a WR that is the fastest recruit at several combines, an OL that runs like a FB, and LB's that move like DB's (and can hit). One of our RB's is elite fast.

The Coaches are... And Jake will..
The defense will shine this year

I think Gall is going to be a monster... He's deceivingly bigger than you might think, and has great wheels. Zamora improved quite a bit over the course of last year. Kreifels and the new guys will be the questions.

I honestly think safety will be a bigger concern. No one outside of McDonald really stepped up in that group and Tonani is now gone. Hell, you could also point to just about anywhere on DL as a question mark as well. I think Keenan Williams has great shot at being a true frosh impact guy just because no one else has stood out.

I think Gall is going to be an excellent player. He's one of my favorites. That's just it though... we don't have any more proven players to look for. It's just a Gall and Zimorah show. I know that we have recruited some terrific athletes, but they will be inexperienced. You're kidding yourself if you don't think it's at least going to be rocky at linebacker the first few games.

Rjones61,
Jake Gall, and Zamora are damn great LB. Watch Alek Kacmarcik #50, he will fill in and be damn good at it, also John Kreifels #44, Mac McLarchlan #52, Curt Calhoun . We will need some new blood, Albert Havali went down yesterday at practice knee, hoping it is bad. Do not look past these young men, Gall and Zamora are in a class by themselves, these young men will fill in where they are needed. It had been so damn cold and windy at Roos Field the last two days. I know it is early, I did see many of these new Recruits last year, and they performed great when called upon. Now that is if they are starting, or even get a chance to play. Vic Wallace

Great to see you yesterday at practice Vic! Hope that Havali gets some good news. We did look a little thin at the LB position during practice. Hoping things continue to improve throughout the spring. We looked good overall!

EagerEagle,
Taught your face looked familiar, I was so busy greeting the Players, and meeting one of the Recruit from Troy Idaho, Will Gram. Will and #74 Nick Ellison OL, knows each other, Nick is from Moscow, ID. His dad was so happy I knew who Will was. I explained to him after he introduced himself and his son, I told him his name was on the roster for 2015 Recruits. His son had a few days off for Easter, so they made a trip here to check out the team, plus we had some people here visiting for the "Robotics Show in Reece Court. This is about the 4th year they have had it, and getting bigger each time they come. Four of our local High Schools were in the show: East or Central Valley High, Lewis & Clark, Mead High, and West Valley High. Next time you are out there stop me, we will gossip some ;) ;) ;) Happy Easter to all. Vic Wallace

To All,
I was leaving most of the writing to Jim (SR). What I have seen of the 4 Quarter Backs, they look very good. Just time will tell. Everyone look good when you are going against your own Players. All 4 are putting the ball where needed. Just two practices that have been completed, need more time to check out their performances. All 4 are very developed now, the lifting of the weights have really helped. We have some Players that are faster in some areas. Should everyone stay healthy, you will be surprised with the speed of all Players. Hope your Easter was Outstanding, mine was great. Vic Wallace

clawman,
Thanks for the compliment. The only thing that is buffed about me, is the middle part of my body. (Stomach), "we call that when your stomach done lapped over your belt". :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: Hope we see you sometime next week practice, which is Tuesday April 7th, 4 p.m., Friday April 9th, 4 p.m., and Saturday April 11th, 9 a.m. which includes 1/2 Scrimmage. See some of you there that doesn't have any plans, especially Saturday. Vic Wallace

Hi Vic;
We have that in common, our buffed part is not where most guys would like it to be. Once at a NASCAR race a guy had a t-shirt on that read "its not a beer belly, it is a fuel tank for a high performance sex machine" :lol:
I'm hoping to get to practice on Thur. and might even have a couple extra walleyes.

Pulled together a couple of things to help this forum better remember who EWU has in the wings... Some things have changed, but not enough for all the worrisome comments. Not all sunshine and lollypops, but it isn't dire either.

EWU will be young, fast and aggressive at LB and Safety this season. Expect to see more turnovers created and big plays from the D that brings back 2 AWESOME pass rushers to force bad throws and contain mobile QB's, plenty of size inside on D line and lots of speedy youth in the D backfield. Biggest obstacle is staying healthy physically and mentally through a BRUTAL season start against top competition. Anyway, here is what I am looking at when it comes to the roster.

Hey Lucky;
Is this the complete list from last year, or a list of those known to be in school and playing at this time?

Assuming you mean the 2014 recruit class list. Just a list, but a quick check of twitter shows most of these players made it through the red shirt and academic processes last season and should be suiting up. You are there, so let all of us know who didn't make it to spring ball.
