WE GOT THIS
We made it a hell of a lot closer than it should have been. Great way to gut it out and win this thing. Great team effort, huge game (won't show up in the box score) for Tiffin and Stuteville inside. They definitely held their own. Overall a great shooting night but Garrity carried the Hornets in the first half and had that huge runner in the lane late to give the Hornets a late lead. Our season continues!

We were ourebounding them until the last 8mins. Thats when they got back in the game, but we shot just good enough to pull this one out. Hope we get a home game and I hope it isn't until Sunday or Monday. Selfish reasons....I want to go to the NorCal high school finals on Saturday. BTW, Sac St. signee Jeff Wu will be playing in the Open Division Final against Bishop O'Dowd and their star Ivan Rabb. I've seen Wu 4 times this year and he is definitely a very good, under control player. I think we got a real player coming next year.

We went into the prevent offense and Portland pressured it and got turnovers. Surprised Katz never called a TO during their run. Poor ball handling let Portland climb back in it, otherwise we should have cruised to a win.

Sure glad they didn't exploit the inside sooner than they did. I think they got out of pounding it inside during their conference season because the WCC has a ton of good bigs and they had no advantage inside in conference. By the time they realized they could kill us on the inside it was too late for them.

Not to mention Tiffin and Stuteville did a great job countering their offense and taking it right back at them on the offensive side. They attacked the rim and got buckets and FTs from drawing fouls. Great effort inside tonight.

Fantastic!!!!

Huge accomplishment for the Sac State basketball program for so many reasons that all of you on this board
already know.

On to Saturday at Hornet Gym.

We get a post season game on campus after all and at Hornet Gym. And we all know how that was never going to happen this year and it has!!!

How bout that

Winning brings good things.

And time for good things to come to the Hornets of Sac State.

It was an exciting game. Sat right behind the Sac St bench; met Garrity and Graves' Mother's too and I told Jim Hayford, Eastern Washington coach, that I heard him predict an Eagles win over
Georgetown on the Jim Rome Show. He was there to support his buddy Coach Katz, who he gave a big hug to after the win.

The Hornets started all the seniors and we got off to a slow start, but not becuz of that. They were really tracking McKinney - all night long. We finally got it going right before the end of the half tho to take a 6 point lead.

In the 2nd half, Garrity and Wintering got tangled up and Garrity got a personal foul, but Wintering's arm locked Garrity's and he threw Garrity down hard at center court, so they called a 'T' on Wintering and Garrity made both. They weren't mad at each other, but Garrity really was ticked and got hot right after that and we took our 12 point lead.

McKinney then told the team during a time out that "they didn't want it", and right after that, the Pilots really stepped up their 'D' and Wintering was causing all kinds of havoc and made some fantastic plays on both ends for the Pilots to get it back to a tie. But, the Hornets never gave in and it looked like Portland lost their legs and couldn't hit down the stretch and we took it. It was another great game to watch - just like the first one - w/them.

Time to cheer on Eastern Thursday night now.
