M: @ San Jose State
The Hornets (5-2) head to San Jose State (4-3) to play the return game of last season’s Bracket Buster matchup. The Hornets will be looking to maintain their stranglehold atop the BSC standings while SJSU is coming in playing well and has won 4 of their last 5, including wins at home to common opponents Weber State and the farm extension as well as a road win at Montana State. Both these teams look to be pretty evenly matched. SJSU looks to have an advantage on defense and the Hornets have struggled on that end of the court this season. The Hornets have a slight edge at team scoring but the shooting percentages are comparable.

Individually it looks like everything goes through senior guard (#33) James Kinney. Kinney is averaging 23.4 ppg, 6.4 rpg, and 3.1 spg. He does have 3.9 tpg so the Hornets could pressure him into mistakes. Kinney is flanked by junior forward (#15) Chris Cunningham who is putting up 11.3 ppg, 9.6 rpg, and gives it up 3.7 times per game. The third head of this Spartan beast is sophomore guard (#1) DJ Brown. Brown is averaging 11.0 ppg, 4.1 apg, and 3.6 rpg. All three of these players play almost the entire game and the production from their surrounding cast significantly drops off. The Hornets need to stop Kinney if they want a chance at this game. If the Hornets can find a way to force the ball out of his hands and limit his impact then the Hornets will be in good shape. Dickson is going to need to keep his stellar play going and keep the clamps on Cunningham. Cunningham has gotten into foul trouble often this season so it probably best suits the Hornets if they take the ball at him with Dickson or Eberhard and see what happens.
This should be an entertaining game to watch. With seven games under their belts this season, this game will show how far the Hornets have come and how they will stack up against comparable competition as they head into BSC play in a couple of weeks.
Go Hornets!!!
