Making a Statement...

After tracking through the various threads, I'm prepared to organize and consolidate our discontent. The question is, how do we best express ourselves?

I think it makes sense to express our unhappiness and then follow it up with a committment of some sort. For example, we might outline our feelings about the continued shortcomings of the program and then set expectations with a fan followthrough for 2014 or 2015 (i.e. commitments to buy or refusals to renew season tickets until we have 7 FCS wins or a playoff birth or a committed donation of $100 or more when ground is broken on stadium/atheltic building improvements).

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

I know any gesture will be largely symbolic, but at least it'll mean something...

This may be a bit pessimistic, but I honestly don't think they care. If they did, changes would have been made. They would've already done something to get the Hornet faithful looking ahead rather than reminiscing about mediocre seasons and how we'd love to have a season even remotely as successful as those of the distant past.

But what the hay, I'd put a pledge of $100 toward something.

I like this idea. We can all bitch all we want but nothing will change unless we actually harass them with emails and make it clear that money and support will decline unless issues are addressed. Not sure what the best way to convey this message to the admin is. Maybe a generic “letter” can be posted here then people can copy and paste into email and send it off to Gonzo, Wanless, whoever.

There is also a Hornet Club board meeting on October 15th at 5:30 in the athletics building. Not sure if voicing issues/concerns there would mean anything though. The Hornet Club is there to raise funds and organize spirit/booster events. I don’t think they have much input into Hornet athletic “policy”.

Whether they care or not should not result in fans and supporters doing nothing to demand change or improvements. If there is a significant outcry and they do nothing then fans and supports will just find something better to do with their time and money. :twocents:

It's not easy to be a Hornet fan. I was able to convince my brother and sister and their kids to come to the game. When we gave up the two point conversion my sister looked at me with a smile on her face and told me my team sucks, so I feel your pain. But like any relationship if you are not getting what you need then you need to walk away. If not it will become destructive. You are not alone, thousands or I should say ten thousand fans have walked away I don't know when Sac State will becomes winners but when the stadium has 18 or 19k ,we will welcome you back.

Here's the thing for me, guys. I'm not going to be more likely to go to the games when the Hornets are good, and I'm not going to be LESS likely to go to the games if they stink. For me, it's all economics: if I have the cache (and the time, and they don't always go hand in hand), I'll go. If I don't, I won't. For right now, I have too many bills. If things keep looking up as they are at the time being, though, next year looks fairly promising.

But that's just me. Many out there are in the same boat, but not everyone. That's not to say we shouldn't make more of an effort ourselves or to reach out to the community. We should. Let's just keep in mind that everyone is in a different set of financial circumstances.

Any such action may be viewed in the wrong way by the Pres. or the AD and could result in the dropping of the program. A student referendum we do not want period.
Look at this way, the coaches are trying as best they can but their just not up to this level of football.
There has to be some inside fighting because of the number of coaches leaving the program or being asked to leave.
What will work I believe, is letters to the AD expressing our thoughts about the program. Maybe a meeting with him would help.
I hate to see a cut in season tickets or anything of that nature because money talks and sometimes you may not like the answer.
Anyway I don't want to throw a damper on this because we need ideas.
