I noticed Malcolm Johnson has been added to the roster, probably since the rosters expanded after fall camp given that doesn't have a number yet. I thought the name sounded familiar and he was a top recruit from Barlow that commited to Boise State in '09.

Apparently he redshirted at BSU in '09, then left the team and played at Mt. Hood Community College in 2010, then came back to Boise in 2011 and was set to be the number three back behind Doug Martin and DJ Harper, but tore his ACL and missed the season.

In '09 he was rated a three star recruit and the ~50th best running back in the country, so this seems like a nice addition if he's returned to form after his injury. Anyone know what his role will be with the team this year? I think he'll use a year of eligibility since he's already redshirted, so it'll be interesting to see if gets some playing time.

Nice post. I noticed his name on the roster a few days ago, also . The same questions ran through my mind. Could be a difference making or could be still recovering from his injury and won't be a factor. He was one of the bigger prize Oregon recruits in 09.

Malcolm is a great talent on the field. He would be the starting Rb for Boise St right now if he could have kept his grades in order. Someone I know saw him and said he's ripped. The knee is 100% so I expect some good things out of him sooner rather than later. Wouldn't be surprised to see him at least be returning kicks.

On a side note. Mt Hood CC does not have football. He was there to get his academics in order.
