How is it that you have so many D-1A transfers? (Besides the fact that Portland is a freakin' beautiful city!)

Here is my take on why we have so many D1-A transfers...

Recruiting of local talent is hard for PSU when you have two Pac 10 teams sitting in your own backyard. Many kids look to D1-AA schools first, and we loose a lot.

However, Coach Walsh is great at keeping the line of communications open with kids that choose other schools out of high school. He sort of has a "let me know if it's not working out at X school" attitude. Since you don't have to sit out a year when you transfer, it's easy for student athletes to come to PSU if they are getting overlooked or not getting the playing time that they think they deserve.
