Just wanted to call attention to whom I believe has been one of the Hornets more valuable and unheralded offensive players this season.
Martin set a Sac State program record for TE’s by scoring 7 TD’s this season. He also has over 500 yards receiving. He’s made big plays all season, including against Fresno State.
It’s sometimes easy to forget that he’s a RS freshman.
Emblematic of the type of physical, 2nd effort plays he’s made this season was what I consider to be one of the most important offensive plays of the game yesterday.

The play above allowed the game clinching drive to continue and set up the dagger, also made by Martin.

With players such as Kevin Thomson, Elijah Dotson, Pierre Williams and George Obinna — it’s easy to overlook Marshel Martin.
FWIW, Martin was a RB and LB in HS at St. Patrick-St. Vincent, where he wasn’t utilized as a TE or a primary pass receiver. It’s a testament to the previous and current staff for recognizing his potential skill set and converting and coaching him up.
