Mason Magleby... Starting QB?

I was told by a reliable source that the Starting QB job is UNR transfer Mason Magleby's to lose. Sperbeck (fromer UNR QB himself) and Peterson are very high on the kid. There is still plenty of time for things to change (injuries, eligibility, competition, etc.), but Safron, Geringer, and Burnett are on the outside looking in at this point.

Magleby has the best arm of the bunch, and is no slouch with his feet. I think he's even an upgrade over Fleming after watching film. It will be interesting to see if being local draws any attention to the program as well.

My guess is that Safron gets worked into the offense as a WR or as a Wildcat option, but ultimately transfers at the end of the year with two years of eligibility remaining.

Geringer and Burnett get a year in the new offense and will have their shots in 2013 and 2014. Personally, I think Geringer is a gem and will lead this program.

Anyways, all speculation at this point, just thought I'd share.

Never understood why we wait until the night before the game to announce the starting QB. It seems most of the successful programs in the BSC announce the starting QB during Spring drills, ie. Montana, EWU.

Mag has the experience. He played in 11 games for the wolfpack last season. He will probably handle the pressure of places like Las Cruces, Boulder, and Cheney the best. So I see why Sperbeck and Peterson would go with him.

I have heard that he is starting as well this is good news. Hopefully this guy can help us win a Big Sky title. Flemming couldn't provide the consistency we needed to do it last year. Peterson's offense should provide more of spark.
