Record-breaking Eastern Washington University quarterback Matt Nichols still has his work cut out for him, but at least he's getting noticed.

An appearance at last month's East-West Shrine Game in Orlando, Fla., has opened the eyes of NFL scouts and draft analysts. In fact, ESPN will air highlights and discuss Nichols in the segment "NFL Draft Lab" on Monday (Feb. 15) on the 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. (Pacific time) SportsCenter broadcasts.

:D

What's the latest with Nichols, anyways? Does it look like he might get a shot to play on Sundays?

EWU has its Pro Day this Friday and about 15 team representatives will be present to see him and Overbay along with a few others go through combine drills. Matt is also going to throw some and they are going to do this at Gonzaga Prep High School at 12 noon. Go Eagles!!!

From a guy who's in the know (a lot of NFL contacts), Nichols will likely be a late 7th rnd/PFA. He'll make a camp for sure... I just hope he can cut it and earn a 3rd string position somewhere. Meyers made a couple camps, but never made the final cut.

Thanks for the Nichols updates, keep em' coming and keep this forum rolling! I won't question you on your NFL contacts, as they are legit, and don't question me on my college contacts, which are also legit. We're on the Same team. Knowledge is power to post intelligently. Keep it up my friend.

What's the word on Boyce? Did his injury take him completely out of the running for the NFL or is he gonna be healthy enough to perform at pro day?

Sorry, I worded that wrong. They're not my contacts.... there's a poster on CS.com (SmallCollegeFBFan) who is well connected to NFL insiders, and thinks Nichols will be late 7th/PFA. But I will definitely continue to pass on info as I get it.

No clue on Boyce. I would assume if he's healthy enough he'll perform this Friday for EWU's pro day, but I would think that it'd be too soon coming back from a torn achilles... it's only been what, like 5 months?

Just so you know I don't read all threads but I do try to read draft related threads. Maybe we should have a Q&A thread where people can ask all of this type stuff so I can make sure I don't miss one of these questions. Glad you asked.

Nichols is a PFA in my mind. He was solid and showed he belonged in the Shrine but the QBs are so bad this year that it did not take very much to stand out. I think he could possibly make a practice squad though and I would not be shocked if he went late but I would try to get him as a PFA, if possible.

I was told by someone who works with Overbay's agency that he was going to get one and that they thought he got one. Turns out he did not. Overbay is a player that I would be shocked to see get drafted based on what teams have said but he sure was productive in college and could be a situational 3rd string TE.

You never really know what will happen on draft day though and to be honest I would be very careful listening to McShay, Kiper, etc. They say a lot of things that are nowhere close to being true. Also, remember that both have close ties with certain agents and thus will over hype some as a favor and then not hype others to slight an agent that the agent they are friends with does not like. People would be surprised at how the relationship of a media member and certain agent can affect the attention that a certain player gets by that media member.

Kind of ironic...Matt Nichols goes to Dallas from Cheney. Bo Levi goes to Cheney from Dallas. Bo talks about hanging out with Matt when he went to EWU on his first recruiting trip on Phil Steele FCS.
