Jacobsen scored 11 points against a Washington team that has two of the top prospects in the country in Smith, Wroten, and Gaddy. Good to see the former Vik is able to produce, even against top competition. I realize that all-star games usually lack defense, but at the same time, not everybody is able to deal with the atmosphere and get it done.

I wonder whether he ends up at small forward or stays at the 4 for the Viks.

He should project at both the 4 and the 3 for PSU next year.

If you're a Rivals.com subscriber, here is some video we shot of Max from Saturday's game.

http://www.oregonlive.com/vikings/index.ssf/2008/11/psu_hoops_los_jacobsen_signs_l.html

Lake Oswego senior forward Max Jacobsen on Thursday signed a national letter of intent with the Portland State Vikings for the 2009-10 season.

Jacobsen, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward for the Lakers was a first team all-Three Rivers League selection as a junior. He also competes for the Oregon Lords AAU team.

"We're excited to sign a premier local player who we think who has an opportunity to be a really good player at Portland State," Vikings coach Ken Bone said in a press release. "He is someone that is very skilled for his size and that we feel will continue to get better and better.

"We appreciate the support that his high school and AAU coaches have given us at Portland State. I am impressed with the skills he has and that comes from the great coaching he has received."

The school's release also had this from Jacobsen: "I wanted to stay close to home. (When I visited), I had a really good vibe. I liked the coaches and players and it seemed like a really good place for me. Coach Bone knows what he is doing. He will push players hard, and I have heard nothing but good things about him."

Jacobsen will be joining a Viking team that won the Big Sky Conference Championship in 2008. The Vikings were 23-10 overall, 14-2 in conference, and reached the NCAA Division I tournament for the first time. The Vikings open the regular season Saturday against the Rice Owls in Houston, Texas.

Portland State has three seniors on its 2008-09 roster. Coach Bone anticipates at least one more commitment during the early signing period, which began Thursday..

LO boys eye return to state tournament

http://www.portlandtribune.com/sports/story.php?story_id=122895216923773400

The Lakers return post Max Jacobsen who has already committed to Portland State University next year.

Jacobsen, a first-team all-league selection last year, will play a huge role for Lake Oswego again this year as one of the state premier big men but the success of the team may lie with how well its other role players perform.

“Max is definitely our guy but we can’t rely solely on him,” Shoff said.

I noticed that one too. Tonight's game that will likely match him up against future star Mike Moser should be interesting to keep an eye on.

Note: Mike Moser punctuated Grant High’s desperate comeback attempt against Lake Oswego with three monstrous jams in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough, as the Lakers beat the defending state champions 68-63 Friday night.
Portland State-bound Max Jacobsen, a 6-7 forward who scored 18 points.
