McNeese State Thread

One comment about tailgating. Our tailgating scene didn't explode until we started renting reserved tailgating spots about 10 years ago.

Before then people would start parking RV's in the parking lots in the middle of the week to try to fight to get the prime spots. That discouraged people who didn't want the hassle of trying to get a spot. When we divided up the spots and started renting them for the season, the demand went skyhigh because people could rent a spot and know it would be there anytime they wanted to get there. Now we have waiting lists for the reserved tailgating lots. More people want spots than the number spots we rent.

A lot of people setup Friday afternoon and spend the night in their spots. Saturday it's just one big party in the tailgate areas.

After a bad 2004 season and the hurricane screwed up season of 2005, the attendance in 2006 wasn't yet back up to the norm.

When we went to Portland St., this is where we had to tailgate before the game.

More Portland St. trip pictures. Note: This is before I got my new Canon 20D so the pictures aren't to great.

Well, the area is recovering well from the Hurricane (the other bitch, Rita, not Katrina). Plus, changing coaches mid-season and making the playoffs, we are getting there. With everybody we got back, next year ought to be interesting.

McNeese fans,

is there an online newspaper that keeps track of McNeese sports?

The local paper that covers McNeese and does a great job is the American Press. Unfortunately, to most McNeese fans' chagrine, a couple of years ago, the online version went to mainly a paid subscription format.

They do put up one free story in the Sports section of the online paper each day. Sometimes is one of the McNeese stories. So even without a subscription you can sometimes read a story about McNeese that appears in the hardcopy or the subscription section of the website.

Gonna try BigSkyTV? You are more man than I. ;-)

He's very brave! He watched my team, Wyoming, get totally destroyed by BYU this past season on the on-line feed. That was extremely horrible!!! /users/31/07/37/smiles/icon9.gif

It was probably the worst performance by a Wyoming team in a long time. I hope I never see that or hear about it again.

As for McNeese State, it should be a great game.
