McNeese State

Okay, after two curb stompings by our instate brethren, it is time to move on. Weber heads to La.next week for a showdown with the Cowboys. McNeese has a huge win over USF but needed some fourth quarter magic to beat DII Western Alabama yesterday (Weber might have struggled too). This is going to be an extremely difficult game, but one in which the Cats can compete in. Weber should have more ability to move the ball. Offensively, the Cats were very conservative yesterday. Gotta start opening that play book. We all know Pflu has a lot more up his sleeve. Defensively, we need serious help. This 3-5 crap on 3rd downs needs to stop. Not once in two seasons has it worked. Bo Bolen didnt sniff the field much yesterday. Is he injured? Or did the coaches hold him out as a precaution? Can't lose Bolen. We really need him.

Hey guys,

Anybody making the trip down here?

That Div II team we played this past weekend was the best team we have played this year and that includes South Florida. They had as much or more team speed than we did. And a lot of FBS transfers.
One of our fans had the best description of the West Alabama QB when he said it was like Johnny Manziel had lost 5 inches and 30lbs and was playing for West Alabama against McNeese. Damn, he was fast and slippery. He drove our defense nuts. I look for them to do well in the Div II playoffs again this season.

Haha! I just asked the same question about Bo on the Utah State game thread. Then I opened up this one and saw your inquiry. I suppose great minds think alike, sir. ;-)

I sure hope the players are able to shake off two demoralizing loses like that and "compete" in this one, I have serious doubts. In both games, but especially the USU game, it sure felt like Jordan and Bo were held out for protective reasons and that Pflugrad wasn't showing anything offensively. If that is indeed what was going on, I have a hard time with that "strategy." No, I don't want to risk injury to key players but what can the team possibly get from taking a complete dive for 1-2 weeks? Defensively, this team is looking like a bust. They gotta give something against McNeese to help restore my faith and excitement for the season, please!

A whole lot of talking not happening here!

Sorry Doc, I think we're all kinda in a funk after seeing our Cat's demolished the past two games. Hopefully we can get the ship righted or at the very least be competitive against you guys but there hasn't been much to suggest that will happen.

Last year Mcneese physically manhandled WSU and basically had their way with things. McNeese is the #2 scoring offense in FCS which doesn't bode well for WSU.
GO WILDCATS!!!

Howdy Doc!! Always great hearing from ya. This season is quickly becoming an absolute nightmare for the Cats. Not only is this the toughest schedule I've seen Weber play in years, but also, it is happening at one of the worst times in Weber State football history. I'm hoping for a win this weekend, something that could get the Cats back on track, but it isn't likely. McNeese is really fast and has a lot of different offensive options. Weber's defense has been awful this year. Changes need to be implemented quickly. As for the offense, it got off to a hot start, but since then has been dysmal at best. I just want to see the Cats compete.

Well, the first two teams we played this season totally sucked. And then we almost got beat by a Div 2 team that torched our defense and showed us what team speed really was.

You got a good shot at this one.

That West Alabama QB was a pain in our @sses Saturday night. One of our fans suggested that it was like Johnny Manziel had shrunk 5 inches and lost 30 lbs and was playing against McNeese. See the 5:39 spot in the highlights below. That play was on 3rd and long and went for a first down and was frustrating as hell. He was a slippery little bastard. I nicknamed him after the game Mini-Manziel. They torched our defense so I'm worried about our defense now.

You needn't worry too much...once you have a look at the Wildcats defense (and offense), you'll see why

Haha!! All you have to do is throw a pass deeper than 10 yards and you will have discovered how to score at will against us.

...or hit a giant hole in the line and run at will-- both happened frequently in the last two-and-a-half games, and both are disheartening.

Also, I don't think I can take one more example of a Weber defender meeting a ball-carrier and tackling him (if you want to call it that) by falling back while the offensive guy is pulled or stumbles over the top of the "tackler." :wall:

Come on, Weber, show some life or this could be an extremely long and painful season.

Unlike so many of the other Wildcat fans on this board, I am not ready to throw in the towel and quit on this team. I fully expect WSU to play their asses off this Saturday and leave it all on the field. Does this guarantee a victory? No, but I certainly don't expect WSU to just roll over for the remainder of the season. Stick with this team and with the coaches and eventually we will be back in the top half of the Big Sky again.
Go Wildcats!!

For the most part, I agree. Regardless of how you feel about scheduling, Utah and Utah State are both good FBS teams and we shouldn't read too much into those games. These aren't run-of-the-mill FBS squads like Wyoming or Colorado State. Yes, those blowouts where disheartening, but against FCS foes, WSU will fare much better. Don't get too down on the Weebs just yet. Hell, we already have a win. We didn't have one until Week 8 last year. :)

True, point taken.

SWWeatherGuy, long time no talk. I ran into Grizwin12 last week, but ESPN is just to messed up to stay on there chat board I feel...

I just want to see the Cat's improving and competing week to week. The first week was great to get that win, but let's see how the team bounces back, will they lay down or go toe to toe with the Cowboys.
