It’s a good game, maybe the most complete game I’ve seen in two years, but the finish has been an issue. But I gotta admit this game and performance is exciting. Home grown Californian here. Appreciate the BS loyalty!

Glad McNeese went for two…don’t think Wildcats would have won in OT. A road win in Louisiana is nice. Still lots of improvements to make. I see Mental still likes the black sweats with Wildcats printed on them with black helmet

To more important matters, the Wildcats looked better, especially on offense in 1st half for the most part. Then for the most part returned to their weakness ways especially on defensive stops & the offense sputtering at times. Why doesn't Martin or an assistant speak up to Mental's bad habit of calling a run up the middle into a wall time after time especially on 2nd/3rd downs!!! Other than that, glad they swatted down the 2 pt attempt to go ahead pass & squeezed out a fortunate win!Glad McNeese went for two…don’t think Wildcats would have won in OT. LOL the wife should help him out. It would be like taking over coach at Notre Dame and removing the gold helmets and pants and using black or white helmets with only gold trim on the jersey.
I could only follow on the phone the 2nd half, so I watched a replay on ESPN Plus. The McNeese announcers conceded defeat when they fell down 42-21 with 9 minutes left…little did they know about Mental’s history of games down the stretch.
Weber State was so lucky to win that game! The McNeese coach in the post game talked about how he tried to kick the extra point to go to OT at Florida State when he was coach of ULM. They missed the kick and lost anyway, so he vowed he would never make that mistake again

A few differences…Weber State is not Florida State (you’re not the heavy underdog), you are playing at home, and Weber State was worn down and playing like crap, plus Weber State called a timeout to let the defense catch its breath. THANK YOU COACH!!! Credit to the d lineman for getting a hand up…but still fortunate…I guess McNeese owed us one for last year.It pains me to watch this defense after seeing Hill’s defenses. This defense has blown coverage frequently and gives up several big runs. 540 yards! Not going to win many games unless they get their
together. Big Sky offenses will tear that apart!Gilkey played well…but 2 picks is still concerning. I think that comes with a bit more time to know not to force it.
Hate to be a downer after a road win, but can’t ignore the glaring weaknesses.

You aren't being a downer. You are being realistic. I was chatting with a friend earlier this summer and joked with him that for the Cats to win any games they will need to outscore opponents and hope the defense makes enough plays to get W's. Offense wins games. Defense wins championships. Weber is too slow and sloppy right now on defense. Saturday was a day of blown assignments and doing the wrong things. Yet, Weber might end up shocking some of us and going .500. The Sky isn't as deep as it has been in past years and We get to play some of the uh, "lower" programs. I don't see the Cats beating Montana, Montana State, or NAU. I think we play close games with ISU, Davis, Eastern and Sac. Weber should beat PSU and get a W this weekend against Butler. So, it isn't out of the realm of possibilities that the Cats get 6 wins. The defense has got to get better though for that to happen.
