Not a fan of 2 non-D1 games. For a team that has a lot returning and is suppose to challenge for a post season berth, the 2 non-D1 games is unacceptable. With the BSC now at 11 teams, the bulk of the schedule is now conference games (20 of 29). :|

If anything was replaced with a tournament, it would be Merced. All the other OOC games are within a few days of each other.

Sounds good. My only qualm about that would be that it would seem a bit early for a tournament. Those seem to show up after Thanksgiving and on to about mid-December, though I'm sure there are exceptions.

The schedule is set. Period. Quit this nonsense about an in-season tournament. If we would have been invited to one, it would have been announced with this announcement.
 
OK, I may be an optimist but I really see a good possibility of going 19-9 or better depending on if Veteto can stay out of foul trouble. Last year we were a couple of breaks away from getting 15 wins and I feel weve improved everywhere except depth at the 5 spot. WE GOTZ TO BELIEVE.

Here are my best guesses for this season:

  • • 10/30/2012 SIMPSON (Exhibition Game) 7:05 PM – Hornets win but won’t count towards record.
    • 11/9/2012 UC MERCED 7:05 PM – D-2 opponent should be a win. Record: 1-0, (0-0)
    • 11/14/2012 CSU BAKERSFIELD 7:05 PM – Bako returns their top 3 scorers and they have had our number. However this is a must win if the Hornets want to make some noise. Record: 2-0, (0-0)
    • 11/16/2012 at Utah TBA – The Utes lost 2 of their top 3 scorers from a bottom of the Pac-12 team and they look vulnerable. A win is possible but I don’t think it happens. Record: 2-1, (0-0)
    • 11/20/2012 # farm extension 7:35 PM – They return 2 of their top 3 scorers from a bottom tier BWC team but we own them on the hardwood. Needs to be a win. Record: 3-1, (0-0)
    • 11/24/2012 at Central Arkansas 5:05 PM – UCA returns 2 of their top 3 scorers but weren’t a good team last season. Should be a win if the Hornets can overcome the travel. Record: 4-1, (0-0)
    • 11/27/2012 DOMINICAN 7:05 PM – Another D-2 opponent that should be a win. I agree with Kadeezy, a 5-1 start could happen.
    • 12/1/2012 at Arizona State TBA – ASU lost 3 of their top 4 scorers and were in the bottom rung of the Pac-12. A win is possible not probably won’t happen. If the Hornets get off to a hot start I’ll make the drive to Tempe to see this one. Record: 5-2, (0-0)
    • 12/8/2012 at San Jose State 7:05 PM – SJSU only returns 1 of their top 4 scorers. I think we can pull this one off if we are playing well when we meet them. Record: 6-2, (0-0)
    • 12/19/2012 * MONTANA STATE 7:05 PM – MSU returns 3 of their top 4 scorers and should be atop the BSC. We probably lose both games to MSU. Record: 6-3, (0-1)
    • 12/21/2012 * MONTANA 7:05 PM – UM returns 3 of their top 5 scorers but lose Cherry to injury. The Hornets need to split the series and hopefully can win at The Nest. Record: 7-3, (1-1)
    • 1/3/2013 * at Northern Arizona TBA – NAU returns 1 of their top 3 scorers and are looking to completely rebuild their program. The Hornets need to sweep the season series if they want to see post season play. Record: 8-3, (2-1)
    • 1/7/2013 * SOUTHERN UTAH 7:05 PM – SUU returns 2 of their top 5 scorers and was a middle of the pack Summit team. I’m not sure what to expect from them but the Hornets need to win at home and hopefully do no worse then a series split. Record: 9-3, (3-1)
    • 1/10/2013 * at Portland State TBA – PSU lost both of their top 2 scorers and there is no telling how this team will respond to that. Traditionally PSU has a respectable program and I’m hoping for a series split. Record: 9-4, (3-2)
    • 1/12/2013 * at Eastern Washington TBA – EWU returns only 1 of their top 4 scorers but seems to have found some stability from a surprisingly respectable season. Hornets need to split this series but a series sweep is possible. I’ll play it safe and go with a season split. Record: 9-5, (3-3)
    • 1/17/2013 * at Idaho State TBA – ISU lost their top 2 scorers but returns some key players. ISU is in rebuild mode and the Hornets need to sweep this series. Record: 10-5, (4-3)
    • 1/19/2013 * at Weber State TBA – WSU lost Lillard but return their other 2 top scorers. WSU will just reload and stay atop the BSC. Hornets will lose both games. Record: 10-6, (4-4)
    • 1/24/2013 * NORTH DAKOTA 7:05 PM – UND returns 4 of their top 5 scorers. The Hornets have played them twice over the past 2 years and the home team has come out on top each time. I am thinking this series continues in that pattern. Record: 11-6, (5-4)
    • 1/26/2013 * NORTHERN COLORADO 7:05 PM – UNC returns 4 of their top 5 scorers from a team that was pretty equal to the Hornets last season. These teams look to be pretty evenly matched this season and probably split the series. Record: 12-6, (6-4)
    • 1/31/2013 * at Southern Utah TBA – Hornets lose. Record: 12-7, (6-5)
    • 2/4/2013 * NORTHERN ARIZONA 7:05 PM – Hornets win. Record: 13-7, (7-5)
    • 2/7/2013 * EASTERN WASHINGTON 7:05 PM – Hornets win. Record: 14-7, (8-5)
    • 2/9/2013 * PORTLAND STATE 7:05 PM – Hornets win. Record: 15-7, (9-5)
    • 2/14/2013 * at North Dakota TBA – Hornets lose. Record: 15-8, (9-6)
    • 2/16/2013 * at Northern Colorado TBA - Hornets lose. Record: 15-9, (9-7)
    • 2/23/2013 at ESPN BracketBusters (opponent TBA) TBA – I’ve made a few homer picks in the early OOC games so I’ll try to balance it out with a loss here. Record: 15-10, (9-7)
    • 2/28/2013 * WEBER STATE 7:05 PM – Hornets lose. Record: 15-11, (9-8)
    • 3/2/2013 * IDAHO STATE 7:05 PM – Hornets win. Record: 16-11, (10-8)
    • 3/7/2013 * at Montana TBA – Hornets lose. Record: 16-12, (10-9)
    • 3/9/2013 * at Montana State 1:35 PM - Hornets lose. Record: 16-13, (10-10)
So I have this program at an overly optimistic 16-13, (10-10 BSC) and if the Hornets have truly turned the corner under Katz then this is a very possible outcome on the season. 10 BSC wins should get the Hornets into the BSC Tournament and hopefully the Hornets can reach that accomplishment. A lot is returning this season and the Hornets have the opportunity to finally pull themselves out of the bottom rung of the BSC.

So far I'm 8 for 10, missing on the UCD Loss and Utah win.
 
With a Hornet L tomorrow I will have correctly predicted the overall record an missed the BSC record by one game. Also by my count, I predicted 22 of 29 outcomes the month before the season even started.

Did you guys know you can bet on these games!!! :o
