Not much info on this kid...

I googled Sheridian College (Wyoming) and here is what I found:

1. They didn't have a link to athletics on the home page, I had to search for their athletics site. WTF!
:?
2. Here are the stats for Proctor:

Roster lists him as a guard that is 6'-2" 176 lbs

Played in 28 games:
PPG: 13.2
FT's: 92/119 for 77.3% (2nd highest on team, the team leader only shot 4 FT's)
3PT's: 43/121 for 35.54%
FG's: 117/258 for 43.4% (4th lowest on team)
RPG: 3.4
APG: 2.6
SPG: 2.1 (Highest on the team)
BPG: 0.0
TurnoversPG: 2.8 (Highest on the team)

On the surface he doesn't look like anything special. I have no idea if the stats I pulled are current.

Here is his bio that Sheridian has posted:
Class: SO
Height: 6'2"
Position: G
Hometown: Washington, DC
High School: Woodlawn HS
Antoine is from Washington D.C. Proctor played in 33 games last year averaged 16 minutes per game. During that time Proctor scored 9.5 points, pulled down 3.6 rebounds and dished out 2 assists. Proctor shot 46% from the field and 70% from the free throw line. Antoine played at Woodlawn High in Baltimore, MD. Antoine averaged 18 ppg as a senior at Woodlawn High. Antoine’s Major will be in Communications.
Favorites: Basketball, South Park, Denver Nuggets, Rice, R & B
Nickname: Wild Card
Quote: “I’m a 100, I’m the chosen one”

It looks like we have a huge fan of the Matrix headed here. ;) On the up side it looks like he can hit FT's and has range. Given that he doesn't have a lot of assists per game means 4 things:
1) he is a ball hog and loves to take shots
2) his teammates suck and can't make a shot after he dishes the ball
3) his teammates can't catch his passes or he is a terrible passer
4) all of the above.

I sure hope he can contribute and take his game to a level never before seen. :|

This looks like an Antionio Flaggs clone, based on the stats...

I'm sorry, but I've just wanted to long to get excited by a big time recruit or a big man, like we get occasionally for football...

Is it wrong to long for 2003 when our front line was Tony Champion (6'11" 265) and Cedric Thompkins (6'8" 225)? Sure, they weren't big time scorers, but at least they were imposing and we could be physical in the post, get boards, etc!

This is just one of six or seven new faces for the Hornets next year. The only guard coming back next year with any significant playing time is Toles-Bey. You have to have guards along with the big guys.

From what I have heard, Proctor is a clone of Chris Walker, who played for Foothill High in Sacto, played for Katz at Delta, (and led them to the State semi-final game), then went on to play at Oklahoma. I have seen Walker on many occasions and if Proctor is even close to Walker, I'll take him any day of the week. Walker was a big time winner!!!

I couldn't find the average minutes played per game which I think would give more insight into the type of player Proctor is and what we might expect. I would have to assume he is a starter who plays the bulk of a game.

I just hope Katz isn't going to rely on nothing but JC players for the rest of this class. He found Dickson last season so Katz has shown he can land an athletic player from HS. Katz also landed Carbajal in the early signing period and I would like to see 3 or 4 more HS athletic players recruited in this class.

Sheridan College is one of the better JC programs in the country. Kudos for Sac State going in there and getting Proctor with one of the early scholarships it has to give out. He has basketball IQ and has played in big games. He's had a 26 point game and has hit 5 treys in another. Google Sheridan College Antoine Proctor box scores and you can pull some stats that way...I wish we had their gym.
