Mental Let Go

When was the last time Weber let go of a coach during the season? Tube Socks, I believe it was Gene Visscher and McCarthy replaced him. 74ish? WOW!! Correct me if I am wrong.
Not Tube Socks, but I'll answer that, depends on what one considers "let go" because Visscher resigned & left, according to the press. I remember reading it in the SE newspaper. He said the team had "lost confidence" in his coaching.

The Mental buyout I believe is the first at WSU?? This was necessary, glad the admin. finally showed some needed action.

I guess I was proven wrong, the AD has at least one testicle.

So, looking at the list Tal posted in a previous thread, plus a few others:

Colton Swan - most likely the next DC at the U, currently make 1/2 million
Justin Ena currently BYU linebackers coach
Fesi Sitake BYU passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach
Chad Kawahawa spelling must be bad, I can't find info about this person
Ed Lamb - Northern Colorado head coach, salary about the same as Mental, 200K
Kevin McGiven OC at USU this year, 375K
Eric Price Offensive assistant at Montana, no salary info
Keeping Myers as head coach?
Dave Schramm, OC at Black Hills State (they are 2-8)
Frank Maile defensive analyst Boise State, making $260K

Anyone else who should be on our short list?

It’s hard to imagine getting anyone from the FBS. The financial divide is too large, and continuing to grow. You can earn life-changing wealth in the FBS without ever being a head coach.

I’d be on board with Ed Lamb.

I think Ed Lamb would be good. I like Colton Swan but don’t see that happening. I think Eric Price is a good option. The former Montana State coach Jeff Choate will probably be fired before year end at Nevada…maybe could pull some of the talent going to Montana or Montana State.

It will be interesting to see who applies. I still like the Ed Lamb, but admittedly was baffled at Jay Hill being hired and then he turned out to be the most successful coach…so who knows who is out there.

All the best to Mental. I’m sure he will want to get back to the Midwest. This move was desperately needed. I’m surprised that they waited this long that they didn’t let the season finish out…but it is definitely the right call!

Can I interest you guys in one Aaron Best?
As bad as Mental was [and he was way, way below pitifully atrocious] I'm not so sure this guy would be that much of an upgrade. Yes, Eastern Washington beat Weber this year 23-20, but aside from 9 points in giveaways to the Eagles Weber outplayed Eastern easily out gaining them in yards.

Best did get off to a great start in Cheney. In 2018 he tied Jay Hill's Weber State Wildcats for first in the Big Sky and lost in the NCAA FCS Championship game and he had a couple of fine seasons after that, but the past three losing seasons has made him a candidate for the king of mediocrity.

Do we remember the bustling mediocrity demonstrated by the last Eastern Washington coach we hired???

Even if he were willing to leave EWU [he seems to be a lifer in Cheney] is he the best we could find???

If we could get them, any of the names you mentioned would be great.
