Mid-Major Top 25 Poll

And our RPI is way down at 132. Big Sky affiliation definitely doesn't help with that. Portland is above us at 122, so it must be the conference. I notice that WSU has dropped entirely out of the Mid-Major standings....

I know everyone is tracking this stuff. That's fine but the only thing that matters is winning the BSC championship and the BSC tourney. We have very tough games remaining and Weber has already proven that we can be beat.

You're right, but we're tracking it because it is the biggest thing impacting our seed if and when we do win the conference tourny autobid. We need the following to get a 12-15 seed instead of a 16 seed:
1) Solid RPI (Realistically between 80-100)
2) Solid conference RPI (around 20)
3) Nice non-conference win or two (Gonzaga, bracketbuster)

In 2003 WSU went 14-0 and 16-0 including the conf tourney and 26-5 going into the NCAA tourney.

Weber was in the MidMajor top 5 and got a 12 seed.

Notable wins: BYU - was also a 12 seed
Notable loss: Alaska Fairbanks Division II team

WSU lost by 6 to 5 seed Wisconsin to finish 26-6

If PSU finished 15-1 that would be an overall 26-5 with a win against #7 and bad losses at least being DI schools.

I could see PSU getting a 12 seed for sure. Also, don't forget to factor in that the Big Sky is better this year that it has in quite a few years.

In the Sagarin, the Big Sky is #17, and has been like 21-23 the last few years. The Big West is #18, the WAC is like 14th.

I believe the highest seed the Big Sky has had is 7, i'll have to look it up. Our last 12 seed was UM in 2006 when they beat Nevada.

Personally I'm hoping WSU can beat PSU of course in Ogden on Feb 14th! Anybody coming?

That's our highest ever rating in the mid major poll, it's turning out to be a pretty sweet season.
We still need to beat that team that got 10 votes.

Oh, we've still got work to do, just saying it's been fun so far.

Here's this week's poll, the coaches that vote in this obviously don't pay that close attention to what's going on. We we're still something like 14th when we weren't playing well at all, now we when two games this week including a quality win over Boise State who would likely be ranked in this poll if the were eligible and we actually move back a spot. Plus Tennessee-Martin who lost to a horrible Missouri State team in their Bracket Buster gets ranked for the first time

First poll for the year is out.

9 votes for us. Both UP, Wright State, and Saint Mary's are top 25.

3 votes this week.

Probably due to the two teams that we lost to being 6-2 and 8-1.

Rough stretch coming up...

Next week we should have maybe 6-7 votes -assuming we beat Southern Utah and lose to Oregon. Weber's going to come down a little, having dropped another game.

Looks like some folks on the mid-major voting panel took note of our weekend.

Interesting that, even in the ORV, we are still the highest Big Sky team this week. :thumb:

Thanks. I should have probably provided the link.

Geez, has it really been six years since we've had a post on the Mid-Major poll thread. :-|

Looks like a 75 point beat down of Portland Bible earns you one more Mid Major Top 25 vote. We're at 39 votes this week.
