Mid-season meltdowns

Not sure this on coaching staff. That was one of single worst QB performances I’ve EVER SEEN. Worst for sure in last decade for any Eastern QB. Absolute joke. Can’t win with that. Won’t win with that. Gage better heal quick or this year is over.

It's a team sport and everybody on offense fucked up today, not just the qb.

I agree 100%. But EB fucked up way way too often to win a road game. He was embarrassingly bad.

He played bad for sure. What was more concerning to me is that he seemed to internalize it every time he made a poor play. He’s got to get over that. Kid’s got a lot of talent but he needs to be able to shake off a bad play and get back after it the next time he gets on the field.

One thing that would really help is if he committed to taking off with the football more often. If the options are force a throw or bust it upfield, just go. There was one third down play where there were literally no defensive players within 20 yards of the line and he instead threw a ball to no one. It would have given us a first down to continue a drive. There were other times he just sort of rolled out indefinitely instead of picking a spot to turn upfield.

When the defense respects your ability to run, it opens up a lot of spaces in the zone as players bite up afraid of a running QB.

C'mon everyone. EB3 lacks the experience that allows an experienced QB to near simultaneously check off five possible receiver situations while on his blindside the defensive speedsters are blowing by or blowing over his left tackle. Recall T-the original left tackle is out for the season and his replacement didn't travel because of being banged up last Saturday. Also note the the left side running game suffered badly too.
No legitimate blame for those backs or EB3 is warranted. Guaranteed that EB3 received more useful field education this afternoon than from his first two start-wins. Additional snaps and game experience with our receivers fine tuning passes, and we'll all forget today; except I want to commend the Eagle defense. Incredible job! In spite of all else, these guys still kept us in the game until the last minutes.

We have one team left with a record over .500 and we still control our destiny. Slim chance we all finish 7-1 but we should be fine if that happens. Brutal loss but bye week followed by a home game will help us heal. Road games are tough to win in the Big Sky. UC Davis will see that in Cheney Nov 10.

It wasn't all on EB3. He had a bad game yes, but the O line did not help him out at all. The running game was non extistent (thanks mostly to Weber's game plan) and the receivers had some drops here and there as well. Yes EB3 had a bad game and yes EWU probably wins this game with Gubrud, but they still would have struggled to win this one if he had played.

The good news is the defense was once again really damn good. It really seems like they've turned a corner this year. EWU won't play a defense as good as Weber's the rest of the season and we just saw EB3 help put up 55 in 3 quarters against Southern Utah last week. The season is far from lost. Yes it hurts to take one in the jaw, but it will be a good learning experience for everyone. Especially EB3.

These last two posts ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ are spot on.

EB had multiple opportunities with the RPO to pull it back and run for good yardage where he didn't. Weber was super aggressive off the snap. In some ways, this game reminded me of the WSU game. A very fast and physical front 7 for Weber that blitzed from all over the place and got up field quick. This was every bit as much a less than stellar o-line performance as it was QB play.

It was also puzzling to see McPherson (top 5 in rushing yards in all of FCS) only get 3 carries. Was he injured?

It's a tall order for a guy making just his 3rd start to go on the road against a high quality defense and perform well. Especially when the running game is mostly absent.

As Savage said, he'll learn from this and the coaching staff will make the necessary adjustments. A mid-season melt down is a bit more than just a one score loss on the road to quality opponent that should have been in the semi's last year and is top 10ish team this season.

Cant remember the last time I've seem an EWU QB perform that poorly no matter what the condition was. Sorry to say but if thats what we have for the remaining games its not gonna be pretty ! Go Eags!!

Exactly what I just said. It’s the worst in over a decade for any EWU QB. Absolutely no reason he should have not been benched for Gunner. A fan could have came down from stands and out played EB. Just such a SHIT loss to a garbage team

1) Weber is not garbage. They struggled at QB yesterday too but they have the o-line and defense to make a deep run again.

2) Not a single fan could have come down and out played EB3. Liar.

3) It may be the worst QB performance we've seen for awhile but there have been several within the last decade that we're pretty much just as bad. I can think of a Matt Nichols game in 2008 at home against Montana and a couple of Bo Levi games in 2010 and 2011 against MSU and USD that that they'd like to have back.

And those two didn't turn out half bad as QB's.

:coffee:

Moving forward gentlemen, need to know what's the real problem with Gage, is he finished and if so can the coaches create a gameplan where this kid can manage the ball.Yes, he was bad, but good grief, its yesterday. Have a couple weeks to get healthy and make a push for the playoffs.I hate losing !

Oh shut the Fk up dude. So sick of your homer ass. I’ll call a spade a spade ALL year. You can keep sipping the kool aid if you wish. That was a f’ing GARBAGE PERFORMANCE by EB. Horrible if you don’t agree then open your damn eyes.

I was right, you just proved my point
If you click on the little bear picture on the bottom of this page if will get you there.
