Any idea what to expect from Mississippi State? Do we match up all right?

I'm not normally a basketball guy, but last year was a lot of fun!

This year shouldn't be any different. Miss State is SEC and that means athletic long players. Just a guess there. lol. Ben Howland is the coach in his first year. We hung on for a while against him when he was at UCLA. He likes to slow it down and we like to get out and go. Although I heard coach Hayford say they have been running in their exhibition game (which really doesn't mean anything). Every team can run against a D2 school.

Should be physical, but we've been there before against Georgetown. I'm not expecting a win, but I do expect us to compete. With the way we like to shoot the 3 who knows, maybe we will shock the world again. We have Experience coming back with Jois, Blizzard, Sir, and Von 3. I would expect McBroom to start as well. I love these early games. Nothing to lose!

It's going to be a packed house. Alabama is in town Saturday for football and from what I understand there was a deal for tix to this game if you are going to the football game. Good experience for our guys.

"Von 3" Nice work!

This game is winnable. Very winnable. Miss St. is definitely big and physical and they return quite a few starters. Don't think they will have an answer for versatile Mr. Jois though. If we're hitting from outside the game will be close and we have a chance. I'm very interested to see how Bear Henderson and Julian Harrell play. The tape I've seen of them is very impressive and I think they both play HUGE roles for the eags this year. Both can score it in multiple ways and I think both COULD start for us. I actually believe Harrell should start based on what I've seen but Felix knows the system better at this point so he will most likely get the nod. Look for that to change once Julian figures out Hayford's system. I think Bear will be one of the best bench players in the Big Sky and in years to come will be a great starter. He would probably start this year for most Big Sky teams. Benzel might be the best shooter on our team (maybe the Big Sky) and that says a lot. Gibson, Ferris can shoot lights out too but not sure how much time any of those three guys will get. Benzel and Ferris have already used their redshirts but I'm wondering if we are redshirting Gibson. The kid looks like a pure scorer and I think he could help us right away. Wondering the same about Michael Wearne. Tons of hype surrounding Wearne. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I think McBroom might average a McDouble-double this year and will be the Big Sky's best guard. We got a steal with that kid. The way he shoots the ball and can push the ball up the floor is electric. The pieces are in place for the eags this year to get back to the dance, it's just a matter of how quickly we gel. I'm expecting an upset against the Bulldogs. Can't wait to see the eags come out firing.

McBroom
Washington
Harrell/Von Hofe
Blizzard
Jois

From the Rafters....
go eags!

They have no answer for the one on one matchup with our bigs so far. Hopefully they switch to zone and we start letting the 3's rain down.
