Losing Ali against the Lobos will hurt but will not prevent us from keeping the score close. The Viks are well rounded with quality at every position. The victory could come down to conditioning. The Lobos are huge upfront on offense. That plus the 5000ft elevation will will test our conditioning to the max. With some luck we can build an early lead and hold on to the end.

I agree with A1fan other than I really don't see the elevation being as big of a factor as there heads getting to them or the heat is so bad. We play alot of schools in the High Country and it really has never been a factor before so I'm disregarding that elevation issue. I really think we have the talent and depth to keep it close.
My biggest fear is Sawyer throwing a couple of wild passes one getting picked off for a big play and that really getting to his head to where it affects his ability to play at the top of his game. If he can keep his cool and inspire the rest of the team I think we are in store for and exciting game!!

You're probably right. Elevation probably won't play much of a factor. I think that the size of the Lobos' O-line and the physical play of the offense and defense might (hopefully) wear you down more than the elevation.
The Lobos' defense can really catch teams off guard, which I'm hoping will lead to some interceptions and big plays. They are always attacking the QB, and you never know who they're bringing on the blitz.
Your Coach actually thinks that we are bigger than you guys both on Defense and on Offense but that is over all. I think you guys may be a little bigger on Offense but not buy much I know our Defense is bigger. But you guys have some smaller D-line that can really throw their weight around.

Yes, you're right about our defense. Our defense is smaller than almost every team we play. They rely on speed, quickness, and a hard hitting style.

quickness explains why they score alot on that side of the ball, alot of INT's taken to the house

Our defense is always the smallest year in year out. But we like playing teams who like to strap it on and play smash mouth football. It's hard to explain but every team we play end up saying that we are the most physical team they play. Ask UCLA and Washington State what it's like to play us. They both said there wasn't anyone on there schedule who is as physical as we are. At WSU a few years back, the Cougs had the ball 1st and goal at the 1 twice and never got in. They also had the ball at 1st and goal at the 6 and didn't get in. The 4 time they got down there they kicked a field goal on 4th instead of trying to score. Same for UCLA a few years ago, we held them to like 150yd in total offense. Last year our defense wasn't ranked in the top 30 nationally and that bothered our team. They have a goal this year to return to that level.
It was kind of poignant listening to part of the Boise broadcast last night.
On one kick return by Sac State, the color guy (also the local sports radio hack, former BSU reserve LB) mentioned "that play might have gone somewhere in the Big Sky with his speed... the difference since we've left is (should have said night and day, devolved into chuckling wonderment).
They're being honest with that call... both of the radio guys "groomed" in the Sky, after all. Speed kills. Force = mass * acceleration, after all.
Of course, it'd be fun to examine the Arizona State-Northern Arizona game tape.
