Money or Injuries?

this is one big topic right now, was the money that we will get out of this game worth it? we have lost two players for maybe extended time, Money or risk, big decisions for the staff in the future

The money is never worth it when injuries like PSU had occur. That being said, Mo Ali got hurt in practice - was it worth it for him to practice? Sawyer broke his hand in practice (I think) last year - was it worth it for him to practice?

Unfortunately injuries happen and you can never really know when they will. PSU didn't incur many injuries in their games at Fresno, Oregon, Oregon State, etc. but all of a sudden they get a couple at Cal. Sucks, but it is part of the game. Really hurts though when they deplete depth at such a critical position.

In my opinion, there are no facts that would indicate that you are more likely to have injuries to your players if you play a D1A team versus a D1AA team.

Injuries happen. Period.

I totally agree with you Marty!! When I played football most of my injuries came during pratice and is pretty common for alot of sports.

However I trully believe that playing Cal was every bit worth it and will be just as well playing Oregon. You only get better by playing better, stronger, and more talented teams. You never get better by playing the status quo! The Coaches and Athletic Dept. in my mind are working very hard to create a very dominant and tough athletic representation at PSU.

You have to remember it takes money to build a good collegiate program, with the money that we make this year it will allow us to fan our recruitment area further that we have before, it will allow for the coaches to have better equipment to train a tougher athlete, and it will help us market our growing program to more people.

You have to realize that we do not make any money with any of our athletic programs, I think Montana is the only school in our conference that does and if you are comparing us to UO or OSU they make money on their football program so they don't have to worry so much about traveling to tougher schools to make money like we have to. If we don't play the D1A schools like we have in the past couple of years our budget struggles and so does our sports programs!! Thats just how it is in the D1AA.
