I can't believe I'm actually going to say this but... GO MONTANA! BEAT STATE!

...I just threw up in my mouth.

I know what you mean ... it's like a little part of you dies when you say it but "GO GRIZZ, BEAT MSU!!"

FTG

Yeah, talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. I despise UM and love watching them lose, but I guess I can make an exception if it means an outright BSC and the AQ playoff bid! Oh yeah, FTG and, uh....go griz. I feel so dirty saying that...

Kalm needs to comment on this, but I'm not sure it matters. Even if MSU wins, they could become BSC Champs but we could still be a seeded team in the playoff's. We should stay in the top 5 rankings if we beat Idaho State; above MSU.

Got no problems rooting for UM. We want the BSC crown all to ourseleves. Come playoffs always a fan of any BSC team to win.

I want UM to win, but not just for the obvious reasons. If the Griz are able to defeast MSU, in all likelyhood that puts 3 BSC teams into the play-offs. No 8-3 Big Sky team has ever be denied a play-off spot, so with UM and MSU both sitting at 8-3 at the end of the regular season, all three will get in.

If both EWU and MSU win this weekend, then they will be co-champs because they'll finish with the same conference records. MSU gets the auto-bid in this scenario due to the head to head. But with a #3 ranking for EWU, this doesn't mean as much as it would if we were ranked lower than them. Seed determination is all about the polls, and the loss to NAU really hurt MSU in that aspect. Our loss to MSU early in the year gave us time to work our way back up the polls, so in that sense, it was a "good" loss compared to MSU's.

That said, beating ISU isn't a foregone conclusion. We better bring everything we got and beat them decisively so we can get a high seed.

Even if Delaware loses at Nova and assuming an App State loss at Florida, they would both have the same record as us and a better resume with App State's outright title in the Socon and Delaware hailing form the #1 rated CAA.

For the sake of balance, the committee might not take two BSC teams over 9-2 Southland champs SFA (who should win their finale against 2-8 SELA), and 10-1 OVC champs Jacksonville State who have an FBS win against an SEC team.

So it would come down to our higher position in the polls and winners of 6 straight versus MSU's head to head or the strength of the BSC deserving two bids versus the Southland and the OVC.

Depending on what happens we could be as high as a three seed guaranteeing at least 2nd and 3rd round home games, a 4 or 5 seed guaranteeing at least a second round home game, or unseeded but with a chance of hosting a 2nd round game based on the draw and our bid (home field goes to the highest bidder when two unseeded teams meet in the playoffs.)

The Griz winning is by far the easiest path.

The other interesting scenario will be if three BSC teams get in, there's a solid chance of two meeting each other in the second round.

maybe we'll get a chance to avenge that MSU loss, but on the red.

Not a huge deal, but Idaho State finished 8-3 back in 2001 (I think, could be a little off on the year) and didn't get a playoff berth. It was unfortunate, because it's the only time in the last 25 years ISU even sniffed the post-season and they got denied with an 8-3 record.

I would love to get the cats on our home field with a Healthy Jones.

20 teams this year for the first time versus 16 back in 2001. I think 8-3 gets both Montana and Montana St. in the playoffs

But... for end of the year rankings, they'd both likely drop a couple of spots (better to lose early than lose late) making us #1 for the first time ever. I realize that won't likely affect the seedings but still... How cool?! :D

Excellent point, and it might influence the committee a little to not seed or not seed high the #1 or #2 ranked team in the country.

After next weekend, we'll be on a 7 game winning streak, not 6. :D

Also, if MSU beats Montana, there's no way we host or even play MSU in the second round (our first game), as both teams will likely be seeded, and have first round byes at the very least. (Teams from the same conference cannot play each other in the first game for both teams). If we play MSU in the playoffs, it won't be until the quarterfinals. We could play Montana in the second round though.

Like I said, 'if three BSC teams' get in.

Now watch Weber pull the unthinkable and 4 BSC teams get in.

Boy, you guys would sell your soul (root for um) for the AQ

Don't worry kid, I hate the kitties almost as much as UM. To be quite honest I hope you both beat the shit out of each other tomorrow and the final score is 2-0 in UM's favor. This year's version of EWU football took a dump against your once in a decade squad when we played in Bozeman this year, big deal. I hope we see you in the playoffs and give you the ass whooping you deserve.
