Wow.

Wow. I wonder what the whole story is.

Doubt that it'll make any difference as far as players go, but it sounds like this is just a short-term solution to try and deal with all of those arrests.

I think that if this is the extent of it, you're probably right.

However, if players are dismissed from the team and any additional coaching staff is let go, I'd be willing to bet that there could be a mass exodus of players/recruits from their program.

I know that when a coach leaves a program to take another job, there are some rules on the behalf of recruits that allows them to transfer and not need to sit out a year. What I don't know is that if the coach is terminated, and spring ball has started, do they have the same option? If I were a out of town recruit in that program now, I just may want to get the hell out of Dodge...

I thought it was an early April Fool's prank until I got to the part about the assistant being involved in one of the assaults. Some strong evidence must have come out about administrative/coach misconduct and the lack of a response for this to happen.

As I understand it, they may be hiring an Interim Head Coach for the 2012 season and then hire the new HC following that. Seems like a lot of churn for some of the newly recruited guys. Even if one of the newly recruited guys considered bailing, there'd have to be a scholarship available at whatever new school he'd be considering.

Which I don't think we have right now after Signing Day. If we had one, that would be nice just in case.

Anyways, players are probably not going to bail unless they were offered quite a gig at the school (a.k.a. playing time or a certain style of play) or if they despise the new coach and want out.

If my kid had signed to play there, though it would be their decision, I would be having second thoughts about now, scholarship or not. That program is going to be a mess for a few years.

Wow.
