Montana Fires HC Stitt

Three unattached sources with direct knowledge of the opening confirmed that former Montana head coach Bobby Hauck and former Montana quarterback Brent Pease have already been in direct contact with Haslam about the position.

An independent source said that Kevin Kane, the defensive coordinator at Northern Illinois, will apply for the job.

Please don't bring back that A-Hole Hauck.

CONFIRMED: Bob Stitt out as head coach of Griz football
Here is the story from Kyle Sample and Colter Nuanez. Brooks Nuanez also contributed to the reporting.

Shows the difference between a lot of programs, Stitt was 21-14 in his 3 years. Not many FCS schools would fire a coach that had a winning record.

Also agreed on not bringing back Dirty Bob, the Big Sky doesn't need any kind of his classlessness. Hope they don't forget why they fired him in the first place. Montana got a lot of national attention when he was coach...and it wasn't good attention.

Stitt's offense has been potent, but his defense has been like a colander. Too bad for him, he is one of the good guys in college football. Montana wasn't bad during his tenure, they just weren't very good.

I would say that they have been good, but not great. UM fans seem to expect great and I don't blame them. That is what they have had up until recently. However, it's not as easy as they seem to think it is. This is the perfect time for MSU to step up and take control of the local recruiting. UM has dominated the state for too long. Let's see what UM can do when they actually have a little competition for the top players in Montana. In fact, maybe it's time that we all started recruiting that state a little more. UM is finding out what life is like for the rest of the BSC when it comes to recruiting. If you play by the rules, unlike Bobby, you have to work really hard at recruiting.

I don't think firing Stitt will be the answer for UM. The slide started before his arrival. :coffee:

Just resurfaced after diving into the UM Griz fan forum. Very interesting goings on up there.

I'm calling it the 'Meltdown in Missoula'. Sort of like the 'Thrilla in Manila', but much more comical.

They seem to really believe in conspiracy theories up there.

MSU pretty much does own the state in recruiting right now, Montana Players on 2017 roster. MSU 49 um 25. There has only been a couple in the last few years that we offered and we didn't get. Stitt said some things that didn't sit well with MT HS coaches.

Too late, they hired Hauck.

Where did you see they hired Hauck there is nothing online or on their message board some fans want him but I don't think the administration wants any part of him after he left them holding the bag with all the sanctions that he causef5

I can´t even believe that Hauck is even getting consideration, let alone an interview. Any respect I had for Montana is completely gone now. How can they seriously be considering this after all of the crap that went on with him there? The culture he brought literally helped bring in a culture of violence and entitlement and it lead to a federal investigation. It´s weird they have the mindset of "Hey it doesn´t matter we were winning!" I would never want that at Weber St, we may complain about Rahe on the basketball side not accomplishing more than we´d like but, I´ll take the type of person he brings in to the community any day over wins with thugs.

If Montana chooses Hauck that just proves they are more interested in winning than in their University's image.

If Montana hires him my respect for that University will be gone.

Well said!! Couldn't have said it better myself. :thumb:

Hauck ruined the image of the University of Montana.

Hauck's program was far from clean, but to be fair, the NCAA infractions, including the rape scandal, occurred under Pflugrad, not Hauck.

Exactly. Hauck's biggest offense was simply being a dick. Not a whole lot more than that.

Keep in mind that the Missoulian and the UM football program have had a tense relationship and UM fans believe the paper is just out to get the football program.
