MONTANA... remember Montana?

The majority of Montana Grizzly fans I've talked to and interacted with over the years are knowledgeable, spirited and die-hard to their core. They go to the ends of the earth to support their team to the fullest with little pomposity or confrontation towards other fans. Haven't decided if you fit you in with this grouping of Grizzly fans yet or not?
And adding that capitalized, accentuated "THE" in front of "University of Montana" on your signature makes you sound just as pompous as when Ohio State fans and players do it on tv. It's not very flattering. Kind of off-putting.
That being said, there's nothing wrong with a bit of light hearted smack talk.
NAU has a slew of injuries on defense at the time. 7 or 8 players who were starters or to earn significant minutes are out. Jacks offense will be able to compete and seems to be clicking pretty well with production on the ground and through the air. Special teams seems to be young but going in the right direction. The game hinges on the ability of the defense to make some stops/turnovers and hold when absolutely necessary.
I expect a competitive game. Looking forward to Saturday.

The defense is beat up due to the pounding they took against Arizona. Maybe the 1st stringers took a week off to heal up the wounds and get ready for Montana. The Southern Utah game got a little close at the end, but there never really was any doubt that NAU would win as we were up by double digits for the majority of the game. I think NAU did the right thing to rest up the starting defense in preperation for Montana. I expect some of those guys back and play better defense than against SUU.
It should be a competitive game and i expect NAU to compete with MU. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I think were due for an upset. Here's to the Jacks playing their hearts out and taking down MU....

Actually, the Griz are always a wild card, except for "play not to lose". Our D has looked good from the outset and last weekend against Portland our O lit up. If they put in half the effort, watch out.

Hope, be it the unrealistic variety, kept me watching through NAU's sad descent at the end of last season. Hope of the realistic variety is in place at the moment.

Good effort by the Jacks. I enjoyed the game very much, it was nice to see so much heart and effort on both sides. No one quit and everybody showed fight all the way to the end. I was specially proud of the NAU defense, not because they shut down Montana (we all know that didn't happen) but because the majority of the starting defense is down and the kids that played on saturday are 2nd and 3rd stringers, freshmen who have little or no experience playing at this level and they all stepped up and stood up to Montana and never backed down.
The NAU defensive players are all battered and broken, many of them with season ending injuries, but if the remaining players continue to play with heart like they did on saturday, good things will happen this year. The offense looked good.
Congrats to Montana for never quitting, they play to win every game and that's something to admire.
Even though we lost this game, I came away feeling very proud to be a lumberjack. It hurt to go down in such a way at the end, but the team faught and played their hearts out. That's also something to admire.

Even though we lost this game, I came away feeling very proud to be a lumberjack. It hurt to go down in such a way at the end, but the team faught and played their hearts out. That's also something to admire.

This is a bit of stream of consciousness...lots of thoughts since Saturday.
Ouch. That hurt. Tough to lose a game like that on the last play in overtime. I'm proud of the way the team came back in the second half and showed no quit.
If anyone wants to relive the agony go to www.grizcentral.com and you can pretty much watch the whole game it seems.
This makes 3 of the last 4 games vs. Montana single digit deficits. NAU is right there talent-wise, especially at the skill positions, and made a lot of the Montana fans I talked to sweat.
NAU's season is far from over with this loss. I certainly would be thrilled as a fan for NAU to get this streak over and beat the Grizzlies but it is only one conference loss. With the effort put forth against the cream of the FCS (Div. I-AA) crop, I can see the Jacks making noise the rest of the way versus the Big Sky.
The students showed up, were loud and standing up and did their part to become a presence. Kudos to the Jack Pack for initiating this. The Flagstaff community, on the other hand, didn't show. The south side of the stadium was dominated by empty seats where Jacks fans would have been and fans wearing maroon. Student support has improved. Community support seems to have gotten worse. I don't know what to say about this but I refuse to let the whining about $11 tickets being too expensive be used as an excuse. I love watching college football, basketball, soccer and volleyball and enjoy supporting my alma mater when I can. That being said, sports is not the end-all-be-all, but I wish the community could give a little bit more love to NAU.
Please, now....no more injuries. This is bordering on ridiculous.
Golf clap to the Griz faithful for traveling far and wide to support their team. Apart from one arse talking smack downtown on Friday night about our program being a bunch of "losers" and one drunkard in the parking lot getting in the face of NAU fans after the game, you portray nothing but class. Good luck the rest of the season.
Was the overtime call that Henderson was out of bounds the reason we lost. No. Was it a close call that certainly would've helped NAU had it gone our way. Yes. Calls go in your team's favor and go against your team every game. That's just how it goes and bitching and whining won't change things. Move on. Practice hard and prepare for Northern Colorado. Conference game 2 is next Saturday.
I've had the pleasure of watching two games live this season and I hope to catch at least one more - homecoming, perhaps?

Let me just say this as a member of the Jack Pack. I personally talked to coach Souers about the decimated defense that Montana squeezed out a win against, and he said that all the starters that are injured are eligible for another season of play next year and the defense will be "phenomenal." So you "Griz" fans can hop off the bandwagon because the game will not rest in the hands of the referees next year.
